What is the axle bearing for? I never see it being replaced during these how to videos but it's sold in the kit.

Common wear item on higher mileage vehicle. When you have frontend apart far enough to change axles its fairly easy to change the wheel bearing.

It's the wheel bearing, it isn't necessary to replace it in most cases. Replacing them does require a press and some ingenuity.

Whether you need it or not its a good deal. If you dont need the bearing then it might not be worth installing. It is a huge pain, especially on Hondas. I would buy the kit and just save the bearing until you need them. Then I would have a shop put them on unless you really like to diy. The bearing install videos are separate from the cv axle videos.

Is the wheel bearing already installed in the wheel hub? Or will I have to have a hydraulic press to insert the bearing in the hub?

You"ll need a press. You have to have one to remove the old stuff from the knuckle

No the bearing is not in the wheel hub. Yes you should have a hydraulic press . I would also recommend that you pack the bearings in dry ice for 4-6 hours before you do a speedy install.
