To be honest, I was not sure that this would be a wise purchase. This was a new part for far less than a rebuilt part from the local parts stores. I did not pull it apart before installing it on my car, a 1996 Impala SS, but externally it looked to be very well made. After installation it started right up! No hesitation! No miss! The car runs like new again! Thanks!

My '94 Caprice had an aftermarket Opti in it that was suspect. I replaced it with an AIP-brand Opti, which had its bearing fail terribly after about 1200 miles. I ordered a replacement, and its bearing had noticeably play in it, before even being installed. So both of the AIP Optis went back. I then tried two Spectra Optis, and the engine would not start with either one. They both had bad optical sensors--when I turned them by hand slowly or quickly, they appeared to fire the injectors and coil properly, but when spun at medium speed, I would get no injectors or spark. I bought this Opti, installed it, and the engine fired up on the first try. After more than a thousand miles, it has been trouble free. That's not a long-term test, obviously, but at least this one was good out of the box. And at under $70, the price is definitely reasonable.

No, because the cars this part goes into have power train control modules(PCM). You shouldn't need a module. the distributor comes fully assembled just bolt into car and plug in optical sensor plug, ignition coil wire, and plug wires. Also, there are 2 distributor options. This one is for 94-96 b-body cars and 95 and newer y-body cars and 95 and newer f-body cars.

Mine did not. It's was just the optispark. Everything bolted back and plugged right into it with out a problem though

This distributor came with everything needed to replace the original distributor on the LT1 engine of my 1996 Impala SS, including optical sensor and all seals and gaskets.

It is inside of the unit, pretty much plug and play, on the Harmonic balancer removal, be sure to use the small bolt holes, might be filled with oil and dirt but they are there, Good Luck.

When I installed this in my Camaro, it was a complete unit that is factory sealed. Sensor would be inside the sealed unit. Hope this helps.

yes, it comes with optical sensor,cap and rotor. installed it right out of the box on my 94 Chevy Caprice wagon July of 2017 and still works. For vehicles with vented distributor.

Mine came with the short harness that goes from the opti to the car's engine harness. Note: My first one suffered catastrophic bearing failure after 5K miles. The second one, replaced under warranty, is still working after 10Kish miles but is noisy, so I suspect its bearing will also fail prematurely.

no, just the distributor as pictured. No wires. Check to make sure your car has the vent hoses that the distributor connects to as well.
