Let's take this cover off. I'm just gonna use a trim tool. There's pushpins to take off. Take the center part out and then underneath we have those two on the front, those two further out, and then three on the top. Pull this cover off. And I'm just gonna take a felt tip pen and just mark where the old mount is or the hood latch because we wanna put it back in the same position when we go back together. Now there's two 10-millimeter bolts right here, and one on the other side. Use a 10-millimeter socket, take those off. Take those bolts out and grab that, slide that out of the way. Just use some needle-nose pliers, disconnect the cable right here. Just squeeze it, pull it through, and slide it out, just like that. Take this hood cable, just slide it around this hook right there and press the rest in, just like that, so it locks in place. And line it up, take the bolts, get the bolts started. So when you go to tighten these down, just make sure your lines line up as close as you can to where they were when you took the old one out. And tighten those up. That's good. And put this cover on. And put these pushpins in. Lock them down. Make sure the hood lines up. Look's good to go.

All right, I'm going to take this panel off. I'm gonna use a trim tool, take these clips out just like that. Take that off. And you can grab the cover and just slide it out.
Before I take the latch out, before I take the bolts out, I'm just going to take a marker and mark where the latch is. That's good. Now, we'll take these three bolts out. Gonna you use a 10-millimeter ratchet wrench.
Now, just take this cable out, just slide it down off this lever just like that. And you can take some needlenose pliers, push down on those tabs and slide the cable out just like that. Now, take the new latch and slide the cable through. And take this part of the cable and slide it over that lever just like that. And line it up and put the bolts in. Now, just try to get this lined up the best you can with the marks that you had and tighten those bolts down.
Now, the design of this latch is slightly different than the other one. At least get the sides lined up and the top may be off a little bit. And then just take the hood. Just go down before we put that cover on, just make sure the hood looks like it lines up good, which it does. And you can double-check at this point, just to make sure it latches. Make sure the hood's lined up. Looks good on both sides. Make sure it pops.
So with that being all set, then we can put this cover on. And take the pushpins, put the pushpins back in. Get them all lined up first. And you can lock them down.

Okay, friends, so one of the first things we need to do to start this hood latch repair is we're going to come right here to these three 10-millimeter headed bolts. You'll see two on the driver side and one over on the passenger side. Remove all three. There we are. Do the same to the rest. And if you don't feel like using a wrench, use a 10-millimeter socket with an extension.
Come right through the grille, go ahead and remove it. Okay. There it is. Hold onto this because there's nothing else holding it on. The next thing we need to do is get the release cable off of here. If you squeeze those two ears, you should be able to get it off. Okay. Just draw that out. Bring it down through the slot. Then take this. Bring it right up and out of there.
There it is, friends. Now, it's time to get our nice new latch in there. We're going to install it in the reverse process. So, just take that cable, put it around the backside there, pull it through. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and give it a tug. And I'm going to slide those ears through. Make sure they lock in completely.
Bring this down. Start in all your screws before you tighten any of them down. Okay. Those are close enough. This can still move around. So, next, we need to take a look at our old latch. If you look, you should be able to see some circles where the old washers for the bolts used to be. You're going to want those markings to be in approximately the same place on the new latch.
That's going to be a great starting point. If I was to tighten this up in a completely up position where my old one was in the completely down position, more than likely my hood's not going to be aligned properly and it might not even open. So, I'll just start it where the old one was, and we'll go from there. All right. Let's give it a quick test. Give it a nice tug. Make sure it doesn't move around too much up or down. That feels good. Our next test is to go pop the hood and hopefully, it breaks free and opens up.
So, that's what we were looking for right there. We wanted to make sure that this latch is going to be working properly right from the get-go. If for some reason the hood came down but it didn't latch in, you need to fix your adjustment. Maybe the hood came down and it did latch in, but you noticed you had to push down on the hood to get it to completely unlatch, once again, you need to complete your adjustment. Once you get it just right, we're going to continue on by snugging these up completely.
Okay. Close the hood, take it for a road test.
