We're gonna replace the brake switch on this vehicle, the location of it is right above the driver's accelerator pedal. It's kind of hard to see, so I'm actually gonna take the lower kick panel off. You don't normally have to take this panel off to access it but it's easier to see on film. So I'm gonna use a 7-millimeter socket. Take these two screws out.
Just grab this panel. Try to pull the clips out. It's clipped in right there and there. And I'm gonna take this panel off also, there's 10-millimeter screws right here, or bolts. Use a 10-millimeter socket. And slide it out.
All right, so I'm gonna grab the switch, and I'm gonna rotate this clockwise, not counterclockwise. And slide it out. Now, push down on the lock. And slide it out. You could use a pocket screwdriver to help you do this if you need to. Just like that.
Before you put the new one in, if you notice this piece right here is pushed out, this is the tensioner or the adjuster, the height adjuster for the brake switch. You just put a little bit of pressure here. And just slide that sideways so that's lined up like that. You'll be able to slide that in position.
Now, plug this connector in. And reposition the switch. And when you install it, you're gonna go counterclockwise, so opposite of what you think. Lock it in place. Double-check your lights, make sure everything works. You should be good to go.
It was a lot easier to access this with this shield off and stuff, but you don't have to do that. Reinstall the shield. Put the bolts back in. Put this cover on. Give it a tap. And put the screws in.
