Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the air-conditioning or heater fan speed resistor and this is a 2003 Dodge Caravan. It's similar for any Dodge, Plymouth or Chrysler minivans with the manual AC. The only items you'll need are a new resistor from 1AAuto.com and an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet with extension, or actually just an 8 millimeter wrench would work.

Turn the keys to the on position. You can't hear anything from the front fan. It only works on high. Be sure to remove all the items from your glove box. Open the glove box and pull the sides in, it comes down, and your resistor is right here. There are two connectors. This one you push the clip to the side, this one you push a tab up that's on the bottom, remove it, and then push that one to the side and remove it. Now use an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet, and you could actually reach in there with a wrench as well and use that. Remove the two 8 millimeter bolts that hold the resistor in.

With the resistor out, the one on top is the original one; bottom one is the one from 1A Auto. You can see they're going to plug in exactly the same. They don't look quite the same, but our new one will actually function better than the old one because you're going to have all the fan speeds. Here again with the key on, you can hear the fan is working at all speeds. Thanks for tuning in.
