    Flat Blade Screwdriver

Hi. I'm Mike, from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.

What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. Today I'm going to show you how to replace this EVAP vent solenoid valve on this 2008 Chevy Silverado Work Truck. If you need this part or other parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description and head over to 1aauto.com.

All right, I'm going to remove this old vent valve. First, we're going to disconnect the connector. Little red connector right here, just pull on this lock tab and disconnect it. I'm going to take a straight blade screwdriver and loosen up this clamp right here. Move that to the side and then I'll loosen up this clamp over here. Move that to the side.

Before I disconnect the hoses completely, there's a little lock tab right here. Slide that out and then slide the whole vent valve out. It might be a little easier to disconnect the hoses. Just grab the hose and twist a little bit, and this one, the same. Just twist it a little bit and pull it out.

Here's our old EVAP canister vent valve. Here's our new vent valve. It looks a little bit different. It's because we're going to reuse this cylinder-looking piece, but the connector looks the same. It does come with a new wire. This part looks the same. The mounting bracket is going to be the same. Get yours at 1aauto.com and you'll be ready to rock and roll.

Now I'm going to swap this over to the new one. Just take a straight blade screwdriver. This little lock right here, slide that out of position and we're just going to twist and rock it back and forth a little bit while you pull on it. There's a little O-ring right there. This is the new one. Line the new one up and then lock it in place just like that.

Here's the bracket that is on the gas tank. That goes on the back of this, right here. To make it easier, I'm just going to slide these hoses on first. Get that one into position and grab the other hose. Woops. Slide that into position just like that and we'll take the back side of this.

Just going to slide it from the left to the right just like that. It'll clip in place over here. Then I can take the hose clamps. Slide these into position just like that. Take a straight blade screwdriver and we'll snug these up. Not too tight; it is plastic we're tightening down to. It's just gotta be snug. There's no liquids going through these. It's just vapor, just gas vapor and air, so it's just for venting. That's good. That's tight.

The new solenoid comes with this harness. Just connect this harness to this, connect the harness right here, and then we can clip this onto the fuel tank just like that.
