Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we show you how to service and replace the instrument cluster on this 1996 Chevy Tahoe. The items you'll need for this are a 7mm socket and ratchet, an 8mm wrench and a flat blade screwdriver.

The first thing that you're going to want to do is disconnect your negative battery terminal, so using an 8mm wrench, just loosen that up and pull it free. Push the brake, turn on the vehicle and pull the shifter all the way down. Now, pull out on the dash panel and you want to do this all the way around it. Once you have it pulled free, look back behind it and you want to disconnect this series of harnesses. Just push the tabs and pull them free. Do the same thing on this one on the other side and then your dash panel is free.

Your instrument cluster is secured by these four 7mm bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Once those bolts are removed, pull your instrument cluster forward. You want to tilt it forward and pull it up and out. Now, to replace these larger bulbs, you just twist out the socket and you actually replace the entire socket and you just twist it clockwise to lock it. With these smaller ones, it helps to use pliers because they're a little harder to grip. You just twist them out, pull the bulb out, push your new bulb in and then twist it clockwise to lock it back into place. Now, you want to line up this with this right here. Just tilt this back in and carefully push it back into place. Once you have it pushed all the way back, replace those 7mm bolts. To reinstall your dash panel, you want to just put it back over the steering wheel and reconnect those four harnesses. Now, push the dash panel back into place and you will need to pull that cup holder ash tray out. Put your shifter back up and turn the vehicle off. Now, push your negative battery cable back into place and tighten up that 8mm bolt, and you're all set
