Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the thermostat on this 2002 Suzuki XL7 with the 2.7 liter V6 engine. The items you'll need for this are a 12mm socket and ratchet, a drain pan, a flat blade screwdriver, a funnel, and a bottle of coolant.

Start off by removing your radiator cap. Right here is your coolant drain. You just want to twist this and it will drain out the coolant. If it's difficult to turn, use a pair of pliers. You want to make sure you have a drip pan underneath it. When it stops draining, tighten it back up.

Your thermostat is located right in here. You want to remove these two 12mm nuts. We'll fast foward as Don breaks them free with the socket and ratchet, and then removes them the rest of the way by hand. Once those are removed, pull back this hose, and using a flat blade screwdriver, pry the thermostat out making sure that the drip pan's underneath it - and it pulls out.

Take your new thermostat and make sure that this gasket's in place. Pull back that hose and put the thermostat into place with the valve on the top. Push the hose back into place and replace those two 12mm nuts. We'll just fast foward as Don does this.

Then using a funnel, replace the coolant. Replace your radiator cap and you're all set.
