How to Use Touch Up Paint on any Vehicle

So if you're trying to find the correct touch-up paint for this vehicle, you're going to want to open the door, find this label right here. Sometimes this label is located in this position over here. But for this one, it's right here. The three-digit number right next to the C/TR, that 202, that's the color of this paint. If you have a different color, obviously, that number is going to be different. But that's where you find it.

Here we have the correct 202 touch-up paint. We matched it with the code, and we're good to go. So we have a couple areas where the paint has been chipped off, so we're going to use this touch-up paint. This scratch right here is just in the clear coat so that could actually be buffed out. So we're not going to touch that up. You don't want to touch up a scratch like that with the paint. But anywhere where the paint is actually chipped away, that's what's good for touch-up paint.

Now, what you want to do is shake up this paint for about a minute before. You want to make sure it's at about room temperature too. You don't want it extremely hot, or you don't want it cold. Then, on the end of this, there's actually a little pen. So what you can do is, for small areas, just hold it down. You should be able to draw right on it. It's actually pretty easy. You might want to just, if you have gloves on, just tap it. Then you can draw just like that. You don't want too much. So we'll let that dry. That's good right there. Actually, there's a couple of areas right here. What you want to make sure you do before you actually use the touch-up paint, you want to wash the vehicle and make sure it's dry. You don't want any dust in there.

So I can just continue using the pen side on these little ones. Just push down, get a little tap. You want to be minimal with it, less is more. A little too much. If there's any rust there, you're going to want to sand that before. That looks pretty good. If you have a bigger area like this, you want to make sure it's nice and clean. And if you're down to metal, you should put a little bit of primer on there. What you can do is when you shake up the bottle again, and then there's a little brush here. Just like nail polish, just get in here. You can just do a little touch up. Not too much, just a nice thin coat. Put it on there, just like that. Yeah, that looks pretty good. Then we'll let it dry. You can see. If we need to, we can a wet sand it and polish it, and it should be good as new.
