Hi, I'm Mike Greene. I'm one of the owners of 1AAuto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed, correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video
In this video we'll be replacing the side view mirror on this 2001 S-10 Pickup. The procedure is pretty much the same as any '98 to '04 S-10 pickup, S-15 Jimmy, Blazer. Tools needed; window crank removal tool, if you have manual windows, Phillips screwdriver, door panel clip removal tool, putty knife or medium regular screwdriver, 7 mm socket and driver and a 10 mm socket and driver.
The hardest part about this, really is removing the door panel. You have to do that to do the mirror. What we're going to do here is, I'm going to fast forward through the door panel removal. If you want to see this procedure in real time, just go to our channel and do a search for S-10 door panel and you can see this in more detail, or you'll probably pick up enough from the fast motion to understand how to remove the door panel, but it's basically three screws. The Philips one by the door handle there and then these two 7 mm screws and then the next part you want to be careful with. Actually there's my Jerry-rigged way of removing that crank. Back of the door panel, those are all the pins you have to remove. You can't just yank the door panel, you'll end up breaking the plastic or the door panel so you want to find them with your putty knife and then use your screwdriver to pry them off. Then once you have those pins all out then the door panel just lifts up and off.
Get the door panel off, get to the mirror and pull these little insulators off, and then it is 13 mm bolts, I believe. Oh, smaller, 10 mm. Three 10 mm nuts and if you have power mirror, I believe, the harness will come down and probably connect into your power lock and power window panel. I'm going to put my hand down here to catch the nut in case it falls off.
We'll remove these three. I'm going to remove this last one. Shift around here. Make sure that the mirror doesn't fall off. I'm going to hold it onto the truck with my body a little bit. Remove the nut, then there's the mirror. Again, if you have power mirror, the harness would probably just be running down here, and connect in here somewhere. You wouldn't want to disconnect the harness before you took the mirror off and obviously to put the new one back on ... Possibly the most frustrating part of anything like this is if you happen to drop one of these nuts. Back down here. Put my hand in so I can feel. Then I'll tighten them up. Not too tight, just kind of twist them with my arm a little bit, not going crazy. The mirror bases are plastic so you can't crank them real tight. Don't forget to put our insulators back in. This cuts down on road noise, things like that.
You got your mirror replaced and now, again, just kind of fast forward through putting the door panel back on. Clip it up and over the window seal there, get all the clips lined up and into their holes and then once they're all lined up you can just use your palm and press all the clips in. Again, if you want to see this in more detail, just do a search on our channel on the 1AAuto channel for S-10 door panel and that'll show you a real time version. Obviously the big difference is this is on a manual window truck, the only difference would be if you have power windows, as you remove the door panel you want to unplug your accessories and before you put the door panel on you want to plug them back in. Once the door panel is on you're pretty much done.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the mirror on this 2003 GMC Sonoma. The procedure's pretty much the same for any '98 to '04 Sonoma or S15 Pickup. The tools you'll need are flat blade screwdrivers (both regular size and small), Phillips screwdriver, a door panel clip tool or a putty knife, and a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
Start by grabbing the front of your switch plate. Push back and pull up; it should come out. You want to use a screwdriver. On this one there's a tab right here you push. This gray one, probably put your screwdriver right down in here and pry out. Here there's a tab, and then here there's a tab. We'll speed it up here as I disconnect those connections. On the middle one, I believe I did have to use two screwdrivers. I used to one to hold the little locking tab, and the other one to pry up on the connector to pull it off. Right in behind your handle there's a Phillips screw, remove that.
Then this bezel pulls out and unclips, and bring it off the door handle. Up underneath there's two 7mm bolts underneath your door pull, one there and then one right up in there. We'll speed up as I remove those two bolts. If you have a door panel clip tool use that, or actually a household putty knife works just as well. Put the tool in the bottom between the door and the door panel. Slide it, find the clip, pull it. If your door panel's been apart before they'll come off pretty easy. There's one right up here as well. The door panel comes right off.
New mirror, we'll pull these three plugs out. Your mirror is connected right here. Push on a little tab and disconnect it. Then there's three 10mm nuts right in behind there. Speed it up here as I remove those 10mm nuts. As you remove them take care, loosen them way off, and then carefully pull your socket and extension out. The nut should come out right in the socket. Here I'm taking that last bolt out and then as the mirror comes off. I feed the wire harness up in front, mirror right out.
Obviously there's nothing wrong with our original, so I'm going to reinstall it. The mirrors that you get from 1A Auto are exactly the same. They have the same connector and everything. If you have power and heat they can come with that. We also sell manual, as well as the power without the heat.
To reinstall, it's pretty easy, just feed your lead back down in, reach up, and make sure it comes down and through. Put the mirror into place. See my bolts, push it right on. Speed it up here again. You can see I put that bolt on, then put the nuts into the socket, and then thread them onto the mirror. Tighten them up nice and firm, don't over tighten them though. If you have power, or power heat, make sure you reconnect the lead. Then we'll put our three little plugs back in.
Then make sure that the little water shield that's around that opening is back in. Install your door panel. Get it in place, firm all your measure it through, bring it up here. Then push the top. You want to push the top against the window and then down onto the door. Push the top on down. You might have to move it around a little bit, and then make sure the pins go in. Take your 7mm bolts and we'll work them right up in there. Plug everything back in. Back in, the back locks in first and then the front goes down in.

Hello, The plugs is intended for the specific options listed in the details. The only reasons the connector would be different are 1) wrong model/year application 2) vehicle has different options than what the mirrors were ordered for.
