Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace the master power window switch on this 2004 Volvo XC90. The tools you'll need for this are a small flat blade screwdriver, a T25 Torx driver, and either a door panel clip tool or a household putty knife.
Okay, start out in this top corner. Just firmly grab it or use a screwdriver and pry it, it comes out. In behind here, if you have the upgraded stereo, there's a little speaker; just press on the gray tab, hit disconnect. Okay, then you're going to use a screwdriver again carefully to lay into here, and there are three tabs. Okay, it comes up and lifts up and out. There are two Torx screws right under here, and these are T25 so I have a T25 Torx bit.
Okay, you can use a screwdriver style or this style that's a socket with a ratchet extension, and I'm just going to speed up here while I take those two screws out. You either want a door panel clip tool or a household putty knife. Either one works. Pull out on your door panel a little bit at the top, put your putty knife in, slide it down until you come to one of the clips, and then just give the good clip a pull; down further comes one of the clips, and you just go right around. Also, one good tug came actually right out. Okay, once you bring your door panel out a little bit you have your door handle cable. You just separate a couple little clips and pull out on that a little bit. Okay, it comes right out.
Then there are two connections. I'm not sure if you can see both of them. This green one, there's buttons in behind. Just reach your finger right in behind right in the center of this green one and it pulls out. Okay, there's the button right there. Then there's a gray one back here, same thing. You just feel for it, the little button. Push the button and work the connector out. There's the connector, here's the button. Then your door panel comes off.
Okay, you get the old one out. Then remove this T25 screw here. Okay, there's a couple of clips to push the whole assembly right through forward, up, and out. Okay, you may need to take this bezel off. I'll just, an extra couple of parts right here, just get a small screwdriver in there, pry up on that side, okay? I think this one's already been apart. You just pry this bezel off carefully. You don't want to pry too much because you don't want to break any of the tabs. It comes apart.
Okay, replacing the switch. Snap it back into our bezel. Make sure it's down in there well. Okay, take it, put it into the panel back first. Start this screw in. Now that it starts getting, once it starts getting close to being tight I push down more on the switch, get it down as tight as I can, and tighten it right up.
Okay, reinstall your door panel, pretty easy. Just reconnect your harnesses the green one and the gray one. Take your cable and put it in place. Just do a quick test. Watch the cable and make sure that the handle grabs it. Okay, now put it back up in place. Make sure this wire comes up top. Okay, push in the clip, got it on. I got that back one first. I'm going to check my front one here and go right around. Okay, my two T25 screws. I'm going to fast-forward here as I put those two screws in and tighten them up nice and firm. Then, also can't see it very well, but up top there I reconnect the speaker and the little upper triangle, and snap that back in place. Then this piece, you have to push it in and down, and lock it in place in there. Then lock it on.
