Hi. I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this, How To video helps you out. Next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. In this video, we're going to show you how to service the headlights. We're going to show you both just changing the bulb on this 98 Avalon, which is basically the same as the 98 or 99. We're also going to show you how to change your entire headlight assembly with a new assembly from 1A Auto. This will give you clear headlights and better vision at night and a better looking vehicle. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screw driver and a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension.

If you're just looking to change the bulb, it's actually pretty easy on this car. You come right in behind and here's your outside bulb. Twist counterclockwise, pull it out, and I'm going to put it back in, make sure it goes in, twist the lock to disconnect, you just press the tab here, disconnect. The same thing over here, press the tab, disconnect, twist counterclockwise, the bulb comes out. New one back in, push it in clockwise to lock and then reconnect.

With your hood open, you'll see a Phillips screw right on top, next to the fender. Remove that and this comes out. This one spins, comes out. This one, disconnect it. You're also going to loosen up this grille. Just remove the screw here. There's a little clip here, push the center in, and then use a flathead screwdriver or your fingers, pull the clip out and that just allows the grille to come up and out. There are four fasteners that hold the headlight, two bolts up top that are easy to see, one there, one there, a nut on the side behind the parking light there and finally a bolt in behind the grille right there. Here, I'm just going to fast forward as I use a 10mm socket with a ratchet and an extension and remove those four fasteners. I'll pull it right up and out. You can disconnect the bulb just by pressing here. I'm pulling it out. The same thing on this press the tab, pull out, and suddenly it comes out.

You see our old original light. Actually this is a replacement. It probably only has about 30, 40,000 miles on it. Nice new light from 1A Auto, nice and clear. It's going to make your car look nicer as well as help you see better at night. I'll peel some of the plastic off. I'll reconnect our bulbs. To put it in, there's an adjuster screw here, and there's also an adjuster screw back here. Basically, parking your vehicle 20 feet away from the wall and then use the adjuster screws to make your beams. One of them adjusts up and down. One of them adjusts left to right. If you want the beams pointing straight forward, your low beam, you want at the same level. The concentration of the beam should be one inch below the height of the bulb. The High beam should be at the same level as the height of the bulb, 20 feet away.

Just put this in here, slide it in there, slide this all into place. I'm going to fast forward here as I put the four fasteners back in the three bolts and the nut on the side and then tighten them up nice and firm with my 10mm socket ratchet and extension. Put the grille back in place. This little piece just reset the clip by pushing it out and then set it. If you need a light from 1A Auto, if you've broken one, it's going to fix your problem. Just reattach it, the original one, there is a pin here that goes into the headlight. Force that wire back in there. You have to peek down under here. Make sure that pin goes in to the right place while you're going there; also I'm lining up a pin right there.

As I stated before, these are your adjusting screws. The one is here. Turning this one counter-clockwise aims the light up. Clockwise it aims the light down. The other one is here. Turning this one clockwise, it brings the light on this side to the left. Counterclockwise it moves the beam to the right.
