How to Replace Side Mirror Switch 2010-14 Volkswagen Golf GTI

In this video, we are going to show you how to remove and install a side mirror switch in a 2010 Volkswagen GTI. If you need parts for your car, click the link in the description and head over to 1AAuto.com.

We're going to pull this window switch out. We're going to pull this trim cover. We're going to use these tools and these special trim tools. You can buy these at 1AAuto.com. Going to fish right in here. This is really not easy to do. If you use two, get in here, push it in. Then there's these clips on the side here. You need to release them being careful not to break anything. It'll make noise like that when it releases.

You were up near the top here, and then there's another one. There's one more down in the back here. See, there's these four clips and then two on the back side. Now we're going to go over to our switch, disconnect the connector and push this little tab and pull out. Disconnect the mirror switch. You're going to push down on the connector on the lock.

To get the mirror switch out of our trim piece, there's two little lock tabs here and a lock tab on top. If we take a flat-blade screwdriver, pry it in here while putting a little force in the front of it, and pop right out.

To install the mirror switch, we're going to line it up to the lock tab there. Give it a little pressure til it locks in. Those two lock tabs are good. That one's good. It's flush with the trim piece.

Now we're going to reinstall our trim piece into our door panel. We're going to install the mirror switch connector. Push it in til it locks in. I'm going to install our window switch connector. Line up the connector and push in til it locks. We're going to slide... There's a gap right here that you have to line up with the door panel. Then you're going to push it straight down.
