Hi, I'm Mike Green, I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience, restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts for 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you a review or side review mirror replacement on this 2000 Honda Accord, same as any '98 to '02. The tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, a Philip's screwdriver and an 8 mm socket with a ratchet and an extension or just a 8 mm wrench. We're going to start by removing this triangle panel by pulling it off. You're going to pull a little pin out here and there's two Philip screws, one you can see right here, on your vehicle it may have a little trim door in front of it and then the other one, you can see down in your armrest or your pull handle here, just use a screwdriver to pry up and you can see it right in there. I'm just going to use a little flat blade screwdriver, pull out this pin here. It won't open for me.
It's a Phillip's screwdriver here too. Okay, oops that went flying. Keep track of it. Okay, we'll remove this Philip screw and this one. Okay, now this panel right here, you can just kind of grab this side and pull, it just has a couple of clips that go in there. Now you will want to take your switch panel, pull it up, back and out and then all of these connections just have little buttons on there. This blue one, the button is right, push the button down, disconnect. Brown one, the button is here, disconnect and this grey one, the button is right, disconnect. Now right here, your doors handle pull it forward, and then out. You can see it, there's a little clip right here, just take your thumb, pull the clip off and then the rod pops up and out and then a little connector here. Okay, and after that just take your hand, put it in behind and there are some clips. Pull and you want to lift here, the door panel up and off. Now I'm behind again, this is your courtesy light, just twist it counter clockwise and pull it out and then there's another connector here, push the button, disconnect it and your door panel is off.
Your mirror is mounted with three 8 mm bolts. Lead comes down here, just a little button there, press it, pull that lead out. Regular screwdriver will help you pry this clip out here, kind of work it back and forth, and it comes out. Then just remove these three 8 mm bolts. Yours is going to stick a little bit, comes out. My original mirror, here's my new mirror from 1A Auto, you can see that they're all the same. Okay the most important part, the plug from 1A Auto, going to plug right into your vehicle's harness. Mirror comes molded in black, if you want it, you can obviously install as is and it will fix your problem with the broken mirror. If you want to paint it to match, I would suggest taking your vehicle to an automotive parts store that has a paint department and they can usually match your paint based on the car's paint code, which they can help you find, then they'll put some paint into an air charged spray can and you can paint the mirror yourself.
Obviously, my original mirror is fine, so I will show you how to reinstall just using that and it's just a reverse of the procedure. Put your wire through and this is if you have a power mirror, obviously a manual mirror is even easier. Bring that through, start our nuts. When you tighten these, you want to be firm but you don't have to be extremely tight. Install and now you want to put your door panel on. Okay now I'm going to speed up through putting the door panel back on. It's just a reverse of the procedure, if you wanted this part of the video in regular speed just check out our other videos for the Honda Accord door panel removal and replace.
