Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly. That's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we'll be replacing a mirror on a 2001 Impala, same as any 2000 to 2005 Chevy Impala. Tools you'll need for this are Phillips screwdriver, Torx screwdriver #27 size, door panel clip tool or a putty knife and regular screwdriver, a rag to protect the paint, 10mm socket and ratchet or wrench.
Okay, so, here I'm just fast-forwarding through how you remove the door panel. You can, like I said, you can see our other videos to see this in real time or it's fairly simple there's four screws; two Phillips near the top and two Torx in the armrest, then you remove the switch plate and unhook it and then there's two more Torx screws underneath. Then you use a putty knife or if you have a door panel clip tool and pull the pins of the door panel. Then after that the door panel lifts up and off. Again if you want you can see the real time video, just search our other videos for Impala Door Panel. Then we'll get to the mirror right after this.
Okay, so now actually let's first disconnect the harness here. This is really I actually tried to do this without removing the door panel once and it's so difficult to get this off I just basically said, what the heck, I'll just take the door panel off. It's easier to get the door panel off and then disconnect it that way, then try and reach in behind the door panel with no real good angle. The door panel is not very difficult to get off. Then, these three 10mm bolts. So, the bolts are off. Here, it comes off and it's off, okay. Now, if you have your new mirror, obviously installation is put the harness through, put the mirror in; 10mm bolts, tighten them up. They don't have to be incredibly tight, probably, I don't know, 15 or 20 inch pounds. Reconnect your harness and put your door panel back on.
Okay, so, we're just going to fast-forward through putting the door panel back on. Hope this helps you out. Now, if you get in a little altercation with that mirror, whether it's in a parking garage or just in a parking lot or whatever now, you got the ability, the know how to fix it and do it pretty quickly. Not a hard job especially when you know what you're doing and how to go about it. Again, one more time, if you want to see the door panel remove or replacement in real time, just search our other videos and search them for Impala Door Panel and you should find that video.
We hope this helps you out. Thank you very much. Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Feel free to call us toll free 888-844-3393. The company that's here for you on the internet and in person. Thank you.
