Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service your taillight bulbs as well as replace the entire taillight assembly. We show you on the passenger's side, but the driver's side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this include new taillights from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.
Start off by opening your trunk. On the side of the taillight you'll see these two clips. To remove them, you just pry out the center with a flat blade screwdriver. The clip pulls right out. If you do have difficulties removing them, you can use wire cutters and just don't cut. Slide them underneath the clip and pry it out that way.
Once the clips are removed, just pull straight out on the taillight and it'll pull free. To service your bulbs, just twist the socket and pull the bulb right out. Push the new bulb in and twist the socket back into place. For the lower bulb it's the same thing; twist it out, pull the bulb out, push your new one in, and twist the socket back into place.
Now, to change the entire assembly, you want to twist that socket out and then pry out this red clip. That will allow you to push down on the tab on the harness and free it from the socket. You can just put the socket back into place in the light for now. Then, on the lower bulb, the same thing: twist out the socket, pull out the red clip, and then disconnect the socket. Again, twist that back into your taillight.
On the left is the old taillight; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they're going to mount and connect exactly the same. Reconnect the harnesses to the sockets on your new taillight, and push those red clips in to lock it. Then line up these two studs with the holes on the vehicle. Then just push them into place. Then take your clips with the center still pulled up and push them in. You push the center down to lock them. Then you're all set.
