Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Okay. In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the power-door lock actuator. We show you the driver's side sliding door. The procedure is basically the same for the passenger's side sliding door, as well, and it's a pretty basic and straightforward procedure. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screwdriver and a T-15 Torx driver.
Okay, start right up here. Pull this out like that. Now there's a Phillips screw right in this little cup here. Remove that. Now give a good pull. All right. Try and work your way down. The back side might be easier first. Okay. Push it back in a little bit. Open the door. Then the front side and the bottom. Okay, lift it up off your lock and then bring it out. Okay. Now carefully pull your water shield back. There is a bracket there that there's some perforations in the shield. You can tear the perforations and pull it back. Otherwise, you could remove the whole bracket. But pull that back so you can access the inside of the door.
Once you're inside, kind of pull this right out. Here's your door-lock actuator. You follow this rod back and you'll see a little clip. You want to push the clip off and slide that rod out. Now there's a T15 screw right here. Remove that screw, and be very careful when you remove the screw. Try not to drop it down in the door. They're almost impossible to retrieve. If you do drop it, any small screw will do for a replacement. I've got a magnetic tip here to help me get this screw out. And your actuator comes out. Your harness clips on right here. Just press and disconnect.
Okay. Our new actuator from 1A Auto, it actually fits both sides. The green side is for the passenger side. We'll undo this little Phillips screw here. Take this arm carefully off, and it comes with a clear arm with a red clip. There's a little tab right here. Line that up with the arrow. Okay. Now, put the screw back in. Tighten that up. Okay. Now you just have to make sure that when you put this in here and you can feel back in there there's a little nub. Okay, in this shot here, we show you that's the little shaft inside the door that the slot on the actuator should go onto. Okay. Make sure this goes right on there, and then you can kind of slide it down into place. Okay. It slides right into place Okay, that holds it in place. Plug in our connection, and then put our arm back in, and lock that clip on.
Okay, I'm here. I'm just turning the key on so I can do a quick test, and you'll hear the horn beep when you lock it. You just want to make sure you're not locking yourself out. Okay, put the little sound-ending block back in and then carefully put your water shield back in place. Okay. Now to reinstall the panel, first you want to make sure you pull up on the little top piece of trim and slide the door panel in behind it. I didn't film that very well. Make sure your door-lock now comes through. Kind of make sure it feels like the pins are in their right spots.
You can pull this cup out. Peek in behind, and there's a pin right there. Once you have those two started okay then all the other ones pretty much are right in line. And then, right up here, put this back together. Okay, pull this out. Lock it into place. Okay, put this cup back in place, and put your Phillips screw back in.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free 888-844-3393. We're the company that serves you on the internet and in person.

Does what it says it does

While you could probably find this part less expensive elsewhere, I chose to purchase from 1 A Auto because they went through the trouble of making an installation video. The part fit and works as described. And the video does a great job of showing you how to install this part in the rear driver side sliding door of the 2006 Chrysler T&C. HOWEVER, it would have been extremely helpful to have the installation video, or even a description, of installation in the PASSENGER side sliding door. That is a completely different, and much more difficult, installation. What I was expecting (a ten minute installation job) was not what happened. I would have given this five stars had there been any instruction available for DIY-er to install on the passenger side slider.

The install was easy thanks to the many 1a Auto videos. It fit perfectly and the extra arm that came with it made it able to fit both driver and passenger side. I noticed that the gear that hold the arm on has more teeth than the OEM one I took off hopefully preventing slippage in the future. It works great.

The actuator was very easy to install other then big hands and small space sometimes made it difficult. The video provided for replacing the actuator also was very informative which made it easier to see what needed to be done before starting the process.

I purchased a door lock actuator for my van. Installed fine and is working properly. This is the second one I have purchased in a year. Hopefully this one will last. The other was not purchased from A1auto.
I am hopeful that if it fails, A1 will warranty the part being it is an aftermarket replacement.
Great price, on time, right part. You have my future business.
Works well, a little bigger than OEM

Great price, works well. It is a little bigger than the OEM for the driver side sliding door. Took a little more maneuvering to place in but again works great.

Thanks to the 1A auto youtube video and the direct replacement part, my car doors are working again. I purchased this van with both sliding doors not locking. I watched the video and ordered the parts. They came in a short amount of time and was able to replace both in a reasonable amount of time.

Actuator keeps jamming
John
May 28, 2017
I replaced in Feb 2017 and the door stopped working in May 2017 . Only 3 months! The door could not open manually or respond to the key when pressed. I pulled the part out and the arm was stuck. With some considerable force I was able to get it moving freely again. I reinstalled and it worked fine again for about 4 open/close cycles, then jammed again. I will contact customer service for a replacement but with shipping costs It won't save me much. Besides I would get the same part to reinstall again and again.
Relatively easy install

I like the fact that the kit is universal and can be used for either the driver or passenger side sliding door. The item items has performed perfectly. Make sure you install and assemble the connecting bar and wiring. perfectly. Youtube was my resource. Some door panel pins may get damaged in disassembly and might need to be replaced. Part performed perfectly.
Great value!

We needed a replacement actuator for the sliding door of our 2004 Dodge Caravan, and after watching the instructive and well done video by the folks at 1A Auto, I decided to give them a try, for $25.95 and free shipping to boot. The part fit perfectly and worked like a charm. We are back with a working door lock for a fraction of the cost of a Mopar part. Very pleased and very impressed with 1A Auto! Thank you.

This part was exactly as described and worked the way it was supposed to. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the small screw holding the arm was not a Philips Head as described. It was also smaller than my T10 Torx. I never did figure out what the head actually was, i ended up using a small hex that barely unscrewed before it stripped the head. I replaced the screw with the one in the actuator that was already on the car.

This is my third actuator. First two were Dorman from Amazon and one ot those failed within a year. . This one feels a bit more sturdy. So, without some time, I can't give 5 stars.
Comment on Video: With Dodge, you don't have access to the screw. You could drill a hole, but much easier to remove the whole bracket via the three Torx screws on the bask of the door. And even with T&C, if you remove the bracket there is much less chance of losing the little screw.

I am 72 years old but my five-year-old grandson could have done this job. The instruction video was awesome very easy to put down. The job was done in a half an hour or more. Very satisfied with the product. Write your review here. It must be at least 50 characters long. Consider whether you would recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.

The left sliding door on my 06 Caravan could not be opened. I took it to a local garage and was told it would take 1 hour of labor and $150.00 for a new actuator for a total of $232.50. I then went to Napa for a price for this actuator. Their price was $65.00. Then I checked the internet for a better price and found 1AAUTO at $25.95. I could not believe it. I ordered it and received it in 3 days.
I then found a mechanic who would just charge for his labor @$82.50 an hour. Total cost for fix was $108.45.
THANKS 1AAUTO for putting $124.05 back in my pocket.

I purchased this after being recommended by a youtube video. It fit and works perfectly in my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country. The "compatible" model for my year was far more expensive.
Be aware - the installation procedure for this part is DIFFICULT. You have to pull everything but the window out of the door.

I bought this when watched a youtube video where the guy stated that this parts fits newer Grand Caravans, so decided to buy it. It was quite challenging to install this into the minivan, but when installed, worked just fine. After a few weeks of using it works good, the time will show how this thing is reliable

This was a first time order from 1A Auto. I must say the entire experience was first class. The website is easy to navigate and finding the correct part was quick and problem free. The price, in my opinion, is right about where it needs to be. Maybe not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive. When you factor in the service, excellent packaging and installation videos you're getting a very good deal. I will certainly use 1A Auto again as the need arises.

The actuator worked perfect once installed. I only have one minor complaint. I purchased the actuator for the left door so I had to change the arm. The installation video indicated I would need a Phillips screwdriver to change arms, but the screw head was a T6. Fortunately I have one of those computer tool kits which worked fine. Just thought other should know...

August 14, 2018
Installed the part in May, it had failed by late July. Worse yet, it fails in the lock position, so I had to open up the door panel and remove the lock in order to get the door open at all. Part was an exact match for the old one and easy to install if you know what you're doing, but failing after less than 3 months is pretty bad.

The original door lock operated intermittently. I googled how to replace the lock and found the video very detailed and helpful. After viewing it several times, I decided to order on line....(after I called the local auto part store and found out it was nearly $60.00). From you it was only $27.95. The online ordering was very fast and easy. Thanks for your help.

November 11, 2018
Product is exactly as advertised.
When installing on the passenger side of a 2007 Caravan the mounting screw fastener for the actuator is behind the door panel. I thought it was easier to remove the 3 screws holding the entire lock assembly to the sliding door, remove and reattach the lock actuator and then refasten the lock assembly to the door with the three torx screws (T27 on a Dodge Caravan). Wish I would have replaced this 3 months ago - it's great to have the door lock working again.

December 24, 2018
high quality part, easy to replace worn out actuator. the video is very helpful, but for one thing. I had to change out a part as it was set up for a passenger side door, but included a flipped piece for the driver side door which is the side I needed to repair. The video showed and also said to use a Phillip's head screwdriver to remove the part. But I ended up having to purchase a T-8 driver to remove the part and install the other part. Once done, it worked perfectly. I used a T-8 and a T-8 drivers to do this repair.
The sliding door is finally fixed

Works great!
Install on passenger side does require further disassembly than the 1A Auto YouTube video suggests, since the service port does not align with the screw. You can optionally drill a hole, which is what I did.

Works Perfect But Installation Video is Way Off For Passenger's Side
Andrew
June 9, 2022
The Actuator works perfectly but the video was for the driver's side siding door and I had to replace the passenger's side sliding door. There was no way to get to the little screw to remove the old actuator so I had to remove the whole locking mechanism inside the door. Luckily, the locking mechanism bolted right back up after replacing the actuator.

Thank You 1A Auto, for the great video to repair my 2001 Chrysler Dodge Caravan electric door Lock. Out of the box your replacement looked a bit larger but fit perfectly into place.

Part is inexpensive and fits and pretty easy to access and repair. However, they do not last very long. I have replaced this part 4 times in the last 4 years -- twice for each door. Now the driver's side sliding door actuator just went out??!! I suppose I should have purchased the more expensive part they list but I'm too cheap -- I only paid $100 for this van and have been driving it for 5 years!

We have a few different aftermarket companies build these parts specifically for us, as our 1A Auto house brand. They are manufactured to the same OEM specifications as the original part that came with your vehicle. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I dont what he is referring to when he talks about a key transmitter. If he is referring to the button on the posts in front of the second row of seats, there is a switch to turn them on and off. I think it is part of the childproof system. The vehicle instructions tell how to turn them on and off.
