Hi, this is Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how to video helps you out. Next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks. In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a mirror on this 1996 Ford F150. This is a pretty basic truck with manual mirrors. We'll show you replacing a black one with a black one. You can upgrade to a chrome back. We sell both manual black mirrors as well as the manual chrome back mirrors. Tools you'll need are T20 Torx driver, Philips screwdriver, a door panel clip tool or a household putty knife will work as well, a T25 Torx driver and an 8 millimeter wrench or a socket and ratchet.
You can see two screws on the mirror on the outside. You do need to remove those. Additionally, you'll need to remove the inside door panel starting on the manual window crank on this truck. Okay, you want to remove the window crank handle. On this Ford, sometimes you can see the screw. On this particular one, you pull this part of it out. Then move it off to the side. This one needs a T20 Torx driver. Remove the mounting screw. Pull the handle off. Now, you'll want to remove two Philips screws. One right up here. One right in the door hole there. Just fast forward here as a use a Philips screwdriver to remove those two screws.
Once you got those off, you'll want to get a door panel clip tool. Just put it right in behind here. There's a clip right behind this reflector. Slide the door panel further. Then from here, continue around and release all the clips. If you don't have one of those door panel clip tools, you can actually use a household putty knife. It will work as well. 8mm socket. Remove this bolt right here. Let's fast forward it. You can either use an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet or an 8mm wrench will work as well. Now, a T25 Torx bit and remove these two screws. Now, fast forward here again as we remove those two screws. I found them on this truck, they were a little hard or difficult to move at first but then they loosen up and came out pretty easily after a few turns.
Okay. Let's get those off. You'll kind of want this right up and out. Okay, here's my original here. A new mirror from 1A Auto. You can see they're both exactly the same. Everything is going to mount the same. One thing you may want to do is your original mirror have a little basically kind of piece of goo and it's just a sound or rattle insulator. Just peel it off your old mirror and maybe use a little bit of a glue or something. If it sticks well enough, just put it on to your new mirror. I'll just get a little bit of glue and stick that on there. Okay. Your new mirror also come with a mirror pad. Clip that on. Knead it carefully down in. Okay. I'm going to fast forward. I start both the outside screws in first. Get them going. Then I start the inside bolt as well just to kind of hold it in place. Then tighten up the outside screws. You want to get them tight. Don't go too tight. You could break the mirror but get them on there nice and firm. Then tighten up the inside bolt as well. Make that nice and tight.
Okay. Take your door handle. Pull your handle, your door handle out. Okay. Get the panel on there. Push the front end here. Pull the back up then on. Make sure you get the door lock knobs through and hooked up. Go back. Push that towards the window. Slide it down on. Okay. Then your clips should pretty much lined up. Then kind of peek in the back here. Okay. Put your two screws back in. Okay. Now, a little washer for your handle goes back on. Put the crank back on. T20 Torx driver. Speed it up here as I put that screw in and then it up a snug. You don't want to make it too tight. You're all set.

Look great. Fit was off a little. Had to bore out the holes a touch and buy slightly longer screws to get a better angle to catch the captive nuts in the door. Also upgraded to stainless hardware because the supplied screws began to rust after two days rain.
