Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we're going to replace a mirror on this 2001 Ford Taurus, it has the power-heated mirrors. This procedure is basically the same for all 2000 and 2007. The size of the tool and maybe the connector might be a little different. The tools you'll need are a Phillip's screwdriver and 6 & 11mm Socket Ratchet with an Extension.
First you would want to remove 7 screws. One here at the back of the door, one down below, two underneath the door pull here, and then in the front there's one that's kind of difficult to see right there, and then on the bottom one there and one there. Once you have all those screws out then you kind of just want to reach under your door panel, carefully pull. There are some pins on the bottom and there's some up here in the top here too. Then we're going to pull off the lock up and out and then pull your door panel off. As you pull your door panel off there's a little pin here on the door, I'm just going to pull that and then there's thumb tabs right here on all this connectors. Just press down with your thumb. Then these connectors the tabs are actually on the back side, I'm going to press them with this finger. Now your door panel's off.
Now, you just use a screwdriver and pull this little plug out and a 6mm socket and ratchet and remove those 2 6mm bolts. Now you can see that there's bolts here and another one right behind here. Pull this plastic off and right here is your plug. There's a little thumb tab right here you press in on that and unplug it. Use 11mm socket, we use an extension. It does have a little clip that holds it so once you have the nuts off pull the mirror right off and out. This is our original mirror and the new mirror from 1A Auto. You can see the new mirror from 1A Auto is exactly the same just has a little protectors for shipping. Obviously, this mirror is in fine shape so I'm going to re-install it. Putting it back together, pretty easy our reversal procedure.
Put the harness through and pull. When you get this mirror to this position what you want to do is work the top in first and then the bottom in. Re-attach here. Make sure when you put that on you expose that hole. Now, I'm just going to fast forward through the rest of it. Re-install your 6mm bolts and then it's time to re-install your door panel and go from there and if you did want to see this video in regular time you can just check out our door panel video. That shows it in regular speed, but since you took it off and I'm flying through it here you're probably picking it up pick up enough to get it all back together, and we hope this helps you out.
