I assumed that the original had these spikes also. So, took a drill (matching the drill size to the original opening) and drilled out the original spikes and removed the original piece. Once I cleaned up the openings , I dry fitted the new piece until all the new spikes fit each hole correctly and the new piece fit flush. (kind of delicate procedure since plastic is flexible, each hole must be flush and tight to begin the melting) Next I took my soldering gun and experimented on the original piece to see how the plastic would respond to the soldering gun. After a few tries, I got the feel of how the plastic would respond. I fitted the new piece spikes into each corresponding hole an did a test spike melt. On the first few; I was timid, so I quickly got the the feel and melted each spike securely into the corresponding hole. The new piece looks original! No photos because I am a
