Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly. That's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you a headlight removal and replacement, both if you just need to change a bulb or if you want to replace the entire headlight assembly, if yours has been broken or it's clouded or sandblasted or whatever. No tools should be necessary, but you may want a pair of pliers to help you pull on tabs and also a flat file if you're having some trouble getting the new headlights in, because they do sometimes fit very snug.
Okay, replacing the headlights can allow your vehicle to go from looking like this, and with new headlights, it can look like this, and also we did replace the grill for this shot, so you can check out our other videos to see how you replace that grill as well. So, one more time, from this... to this. Just by replacing your headlights and grill.
Okay, removing the headlights on these cars is pretty easy. There's a lead right up here. Okay, there's a little tab. You can use your finger or you may need to put a screwdriver down in there and press the tab and then pull up on the lead and it pulls out. I'll show you a little better. Here's the tab right here that you want to push down on. Okay, and then, there are three tabs. One here and you might have to work these back and forth and pull them up and out. Then, one here in the middle, and then, one out here on the side. Once that is off, then you just pull the headlight out. The little harness comes with it.
On the backside, if you're looking to replace your headlight bulb, you just twist this ring here, pull it out, and then, your whole headlight bulb comes out. Then, pulling that off and then you replace the bulb. Then, these other bulbs will just twist out, and they pull out, in. Same with this little marker bulb. Twists out, pulls out. The same over here. This bulb twists out, pulls out, and back in.
To re-install your headlight, you want to make sure that harness connection, there's a little tab on it, it's facing up. Kind of put it in there, twist it a little bit, and it should find its way in, and then twist that ring to lock it.
Okay, a new light from 1A Auto. See, it's nice and clear. It's got the correct cross connection and everything. Okay, you just push the harness through this little hole here. Make sure it doesn't get in the way at all. Make sure on this side that a tab that goes on the inside of the fender, just make sure that that's correct. Okay, and then, a little tab that comes through right here. So, make sure on the side, your marker light tab goes under and then make sure over here, okay this little tab comes through correctly. Then, you should really work and push the light in and push the tab down. As you get it down further, you can make the push more on the bottom of the light.
Next one, same thing. Push down in. As it gets down further, you can look right down and see it. Okay, so you can look right down and see where this is going down in right there. Now, if you're having trouble getting it past this point, it might be a little stiff. Push with my finger against the headlight. Down in. The last one.
Okay, so if you have any problems getting those clips in, use a flat-file and just file off this, you file down on this little indent right there. Okay, and you'll want to do it, just do a little bit at a time and then fit it, because you want it to fit nice and snug. You don't want to file too much off, and then the headlight could rattle, you know. Okay, and then just make sure that you reconnect your lead here, and you should be all set.
