Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the headlight on this 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. Procedure is the same for any '98 to 2002, and you don't need any tools to do this. We are going to show you both, if you just need to change the bulb as well as if you want to replace your headlight with new headlights from 1A Auto, as the headlights age in these cars, they get faded and clouded, and obviously, they can get broken, and new headlights from 1A Auto will help you see better and fix your problem.
First, we need to remove this panel. There's two clips, one here. Just turn it counterclockwise, pull it up and out. Another one on this side. Pull this up and right out. Okay, the easiest way to change your headlights, actually to pull the headlights out, which is actually pretty easy. There are two clips here that you pull up and off, one here. Now, your headlight comes right up, you can see that unplug kind of almost automatically. This, you just kind of pull up on these two tabs, disconnect. The headlight's out. Your headlight, turn this ring counterclockwise. It comes off, and then, your bulb comes right out. You put the new one back in, and then, walk the ring back on.
Here's the original light and new light from 1A Auto. You can see much more bright and clear. Help you see better at night, and obviously if you have a broken headlight, it's going to fix that problem. One thing to do before you install is try to set your adjusters, just kind of roughly, so you want to look at the distance between here and this groove here on your old one. Okay, and then on your new one, try and set it basically the same. That'll be a good preliminary adjustment. Okay. How you would do that is you would hold this with a small adjustable wrench and then turn this, probably with a pair of pliers.
So, I've already set mine. I'm going to put my single bulb in, do a clock position, turn it clockwise. Okay. Put this harness through. Connect that. Pull this harness through. The rest is coming through. I'll connect my headlight bulb, and then just push this in. I'm going to have to, some of these adjusters kind of need to be pushed out to get them wind up a little bit. I'm just kind of hooking them back in, moving the adjusters around a little bit. Okay, now push in. I'll put one of my clips down. Push the light in. Push the clip down on, same thing here. Push the light in and through, and put the clip down on into place. Then, take this panel, put it down in, in like that. Put the clips in place and lock.
