I noticed a spot on my driveway today and was waiting for my wife to get home with the Hyundai Elantra. I checked underneath for any leaks from the drain plug but found nothing. Then, I popped the hood and inspected around the engine. To my surprise, there were multiple leaks around the valve cover, and I had lost nearly half my oil-I should have been paying closer attention. I had to buy a new gasket and remove everything to replace the old one. While it was off, I noticed a yellowish substance on the valve cover's interior, likely caused by moisture mixing with the oil due to the leaking seals. The valve cover also appeared slightly warped; when I pressed down on one side, the other side would lift up, and vice versa. I'll monitor things over the next few days, but I'm not happy with the outcome-especially considering this was installed only a year ago.
