Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality auto replacement parts and the bets service on the internet. In this video, we're going to replace one of the headlights on this 1986 Camaro Iroc Z. This car has the square style sealed beam headlights so this procedure is basically the same for any car from the mid to late '70s up through the early '90s or so that use this style light. The only tool you'll need is either a Philips screwdriver or a flat blade screwdriver.
Okay, this Camaro here has sealed beam headlights, okay? You actually take out the whole bulb itself. There's a few screws here. This is an adjusting screw so you can see that if you turn it in it would pull the headlight up and out, it would pull the headlight down. You want to undo these two Philips screws and then there's two more of those Philips screws right underneath. Okay, we're going to freeze from it here right now. On this vehicle, it's essentially impossible to get to those screws so you don't actually have to remove them. Ideally, on your vehicle, if you can get to them, you do want to remove and you take the whole retaining ring off. On all the vehicles additionally, you'll have some type of a headlight bezel or something you have to remove first before you can get to these screws.
I'm going to speed it up here as I remove those two top screws and then you'll notice I'll make an attempt to get to the bottom ones but I find it impossible so I just go from there. Okay, what I do here is I pull the ring forward, put down the screws and then I pull that retaining ring forward and I'm able to start the light up and out. Then it actually breaks. I go and grab my gloves. Okay, now with the hands shielded from the broken glass, it's easy enough to grab on to the headlight you want to just pull the connector from the back. Sometimes they're stuck on they're pretty well so you just pull and shake and get it a part. Okay, new light from 1A Auto. Looks a lot better because it's not all broken. Pull out our harness, plug it right in. Push the light down into the ring. Okay. Let's test.
