Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the bulbs, as well as replace the entire headlight assembly on this 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. We show you on the passenger side, but the driver's side is the same procedure. It's the same part and similar process on these Monte Carlos from 2000 to 2005. The only items you'll need for this include new headlights from 1AAuto.com, and a flat blade screwdriver.
Start off by prying out this clip. You just pry out the center then you can pull the clip free. Now lift up on this clip, lift up the panel, and pull this clip up as well. Now you can pull the headlight straight out. Lift up the tab on this harness and disconnect it, and your light is free.
To service the bulbs, you just twist out the socket, pull your old bulb out, push your new one in, and twist the socket back in clockwise. With this one, you need to push a tab that's on the top of the light, so just push in the tab, turn it counterclockwise, pull it free, the bulb pulls out, and you can push your new one into place. Then twist it back in clockwise.
For this one, you just want to pry off the boot, twist the socket counterclockwise, and pull it free. Then for the harness, you just want to pry out on the tabs and disconnect it. Reconnect the harness to your new bulb, twist the socket back in clockwise, and replace your boot. This bulb right here is the same procedure.
On the bottom is the old headlight; above it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. Take your new headlight and reconnect the harness. Then push the headlight back into place. Once you have it lined up and in place, take those clips and slide them back in. They just clip on and slide down. Then put the panel back down and replace that clip with the center out, and then push the center in to lock it. Now you want to park in front of a wall, and then just make sure your headlights are aimed properly. To aim them, you just use a Phillips screwdriver at the top, turn it clockwise to lower the light, and turn it counterclockwise to raise the light. Just to show you the difference new headlights can make, these are the old headlights and here are the new headlights from 1A Auto.
