Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality auto replacement parts and the bets service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1AAuto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you taillight replacement and servicing on this '03 Monte Carlo SS, same as any 2000 and 2005 Monte Carlo SS. No tools are required.
Taillight replacement, you're going to want to start by opening up the trunk. Inside the trunk, if you have one of these cargo nets, we'll take it off. Then you undo this top screw that actually is holding the light. Okay. It's a hand screw. You should be able to do it by hand. Then you kind of reach up and pull your trunk felt down and then there's two more thumb screws down here. Then you can pull your light out. The light comes out. If you're looking to replace bulbs, you can just twist and the bulbs come out. Just pull out those socket. Push them back in and twist. Side marker twists out. To replace that, on top of the same thing, just twist.
If you need to replace the whole assembly, here's a little thumb tab right here. Pull that. Pull that off. Just kind of wrap it around this post here and now your whole assembly is out. This is my original. This is my new one from 1A Auto. You can see the new one is going to be all the same. On the back side, just have these protectors but the mounting points are all the same. You will need to transfer over your harness. Okay. That's pretty self-explanatory. There's a little clip that holds it on here.
Basically, like I said, just twist all the bulbs out and then you put it onto the new one. Our new one comes with the gaskets on the studs as well as gasket for the body so it will go right in. Okay. I'm actually going to install the original ones in this car because there's nothing wrong with it. I just want to let you know, show you that 1A's are just the same as the original and it's going to go in especially if you've got a broken one. Obviously it's going to fix your problem. As these cars gets older and the taillights gets scratched up, the new ones are a nice fresh addition to them.
Reinstallation, plug the harness back in. Make sure all your lights are nice and tight. Okay. Line up your lower hole then your upper holes. Make sure as you push in this plastic is on the inside here. Push it in. Your two smaller ones are your lower ones. Tighten them up nice and snug with your hand. Push your trunk trim back in place. Top it on. Again, nice and snug. Obviously you want to make sure this is the one that your cargo net hooks to. Put the cargo net back up and you're all set.
