Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out. The next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video were going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2006 Nissan Sentra. We show you the driver side door, passenger door is pretty much the same procedure. The mirror is the same from 2000-2006. Overall, the procedure is generally the same for all those years, although moving the door panel may be different for some years. Tools you'll need are pretty basic. Small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket with a racket and extension.
Okay, you can actually take this panel and lift up. You have to get your fingers underneath and underneath back in here and lift up firmly and it comes right out. Then this, lift up firmly as well. Then right back here is a little tab on your harness pushed that in and disconnect this switch harness.
Okay now, right in behind here. There are two either they're 10mm bolts or you can use a Phillips screwdriver, although usually using a socket and ratchet is a little easier. The screwdriver you have to press quite hard to get them going. Those come out. There's another small clip right up in here, it's a Phillips screw. Put your screwdriver in there and lightly turn it. You may have to just reach in behind with your fingernail or a flat blade screwdriver and try to pry that out, if there's some difficulties. It's coming right out. Okay. There's also a Phillips screw right down here at the bottom of the door panel, we'll remove that screw. Then take your small screwdriver and carefully pry out this bezel around this door handle.
Pull out on this door panel. It pulls right up and off. Here's your mirror, grab a hold of this plastic bezel, pull it off firmly. Your mirror connects right here, press on the tab, lift that up and out. Now there are three 10mm bolts that hold the mirror on, 10 mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
Once those three nuts are off, remove your mirror or what's left of your mirror. You can see mine's in fine shape so I'm going to reinstall it. A couple scratches, but it's still very functional. The mirrors from 1A Auto, they will reconnect just like the originals. They do come molded in black and obviously you can put a black mirror on the car it will fix the problem. If you have a broken mirror it'll be able to pass inspection. If you did want it painted to match, colors like white, silver and black. You can be as crude as going to your hardware store and getting some paint in a can that matches fairly well. If you want a better or closer match, you'll want to go to an automotive parts store that has a paint department. They can match the color of your paint, put it into an air-charged spray can, and you can refinish the mirror that way. You would obviously want to tape off the mirror part.
Reinstallation is just the reverse. Mirror in, make sure all three studs go in. Start this top one first. I'm just going to speed it up here as I thread those nuts on and then tighten them up with my socket and ratchet. You don't want to over tighten them, but you do want to tighten them up nice and firm. Okay, now reconnect your harness and put this trip panel has two pins that go right in, just kind of peak behind, line those up, put it back on.
Okay, we reinstall the door panel pretty easy, just to make sure that your harness comes through. Hang the door panel up, make sure it comes down all the way like that and then the clips should line up, you kind of hit on it a couple of times. I think it's done it's connected I just lift up a little bit. Put these two Phillips bolts back in. Okay this little plastic one just pushes right into place. I screw underneath, we're ready to place. Screws on, push in to lock into place. Reconnect your power harness switch. Put the front down in first, then lock the back into place. Then put this right into place and press down.
