Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we'll be showing you taillight replacement, the bulb and the whole taillight itself on this 2003 Chrysler Voyager. This process is the same for any 2001 to 2007 Chrysler Voyager, Plymouth Voyager, Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, as well as the Chrysler Town and Country. The lights did changes slightly from 2003 to 2004, but the procedure to install them is still the same. Tools you'll need are a regular flat-blade screwdriver and a pair of needle-nose pliers.
For the taillight replacement, as you can see, this is your typical, everyday minivan. The array of children's seats and whatnot in the back. This is really pretty easy. There's two plugs right here. You want to take a screwdriver and start these plugs out a little bit. Get in there and twist the screwdriver a little bit. Ideally, you have a set of curved needle-nose pliers. Hook those on there, pry it out and the plug comes out. More likely, you've got straight needle-nose pliers. You can hook those on there like that, put your screwdriver in behind. Try not to pry in the light and pull that out. You don't want to pry on the light because you don't want to break the plastic. Keep that together.
Now you can see those pins are out and the light's loose and comes out. If you're just looking to replace bulbs, you squeeze these thumb tabs and the bulb comes out of its socket like that. If you are looking to replace the whole taillight, maybe you got into an altercation or something. There's a little red tab. Hopefully you can see it right there. Basically, you need a screwdriver and there's a tab on a tab that you press up to get that tab to slide a little bit. I'm prying up on the little tab and that red tab slides out. Then you press right up here next to the gray and unhook. Now your taillight is free. You can replace that if it was damaged. Obviously, you can get a new one at 1AAuto.com. The new one will be just like the original. It will go in and fit everything, plug right in.
Plug it back in. Push this red locking tab that way. There's a tab right here that goes into the fender. Put that in. Looking at it from the inside. Push the light in. Take your pin and put it in. Press the pin. If you want, use your screwdriver handle as a little hammer and then you're back in.
