Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1AAuto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years' experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this, to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that is going to save you time and money. Thank you, and enjoy the video.
In this video we are going to show you a side view mirror replacement on this 2007 Toyota Corolla, same as any '03 to '08 Corolla. You do need to remove the door panel, but don't let that scare you. We go through that. The tools you'll need for this project are flat-blade screwdrivers, both medium and small, Phillips screwdriver, a 10-millimeter socket with ratchet and extension, or just a wrench, a putty knife, four-door clip tool.
Grab the medium screw driver and a rag and kind of pull this little trim panel here. Get your screwdriver down in behind and it comes out. Then you want to switch over to a smaller screwdriver, and in the little door here, your door handle, it exposes the little post. Head screwdriver, okay, and then you're going to pull up here. Again, use your rag to protect the plastic and whatnot, kind of put the screwdriver under there, and pull up this arm rest base or pad. Okay. Then your switch panel comes out the same way. Now, the button, then the switches in the switch panel is off.
You want to use a Phillips screwdriver. Okay. Once those screws are removed, take your rag again, and a putty knife, go down around the bottom. Door panel is raised. We're going to remove these bolts from here, and it is a 10-millimeter, pry it with a wrench, and the bottom two holes this little tweeter, you have the upgrade stereo. Hang that down out of the way or, if you want, you can unplug it. Put it over there for safekeeping. Here you want to unplug your mirror, and then the last bolt here, the top one, and the mirror will be stuck a little bit. So here is your original mirror, here is your 1AAuto replacement mirror. See everything is designed the same. It comes with little protectors for the studs here. Underneath the seam there is a bolt to bolt up the seam with probably the same connector.
Now, if you wanted to paint ... some cars have a black mirror on them anyway, but if you wanted to paint your mirror to match, that is easy enough to go to an auto parts store that has a paint department, drive your car down there, they can find the paint code and mix you up some paint and put it in an air-charged can, and then you can paint your mirror to math. If you're not that concerned about it, some mirrors are finished well and you can just put it on and have a black mirror on that side.
So I'm just going to put the mirror back on the car. Hopefully with no damage. Let's see, put through and, let's see here, put our tug bolt back on. Then when you tighten these, you want them firm, but they don't have to be extremely tight. They do need to be tight enough to have a gasket feel, but they don't have to be so tight that you might break the mirror or something like that.
Here is our tweeter that goes back on. Okay. Now we can reconnect our harnesses. Each arm is only 26 inches so you don't have to worry about the wrong part. Then you put the door panel back on, and we're ready to go. Just in the interest of time, we're just going to kind of speed through installing the door panel. If you do want to see this in real time, just look for our door panel removal and installation under Toyota Corolla.
