Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a power window regulator on this Chrysler Pacifica. We're going to show you the driver's front door. Obviously, the passenger's front door is the same. Tools you'll need include a flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, a door panel clip tool or a putty knife would work, and you'll need a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
First, you take a flat blade screwdriver and there's a little trap door right there. You pry that forward and out, and there's one down here. You pry this one back and then out. So this one forward and out, and this one pry backwards with a little twist of the screwdriver, and pull it out. Right behind, there are two Phillips screws, we remove those. Now, with the door panel clip tool and another screwdriver, insert behind here, go down to this, and you'll feel this clip. Now get around that clip. Get a part where it's easy, go right on the door and release the clips right around. It's usually five or six clips, wait for them to pull it out and out and off. It's hard to film, but start with this speaker wire, you have to pull it right off. Then this harnesses, you still have little tabs right on the bottom of them. Pull up with your finger and release. Wait for them to completely unplug.
This cable here, pull it out and pull it out, and the cable comes out, and you can disconnect. There's a clip here, we'll clip off, clip off and out. This cable should pull out. It looks like it's going to pop before. Simply broke it, so there not a wire tie holding it. Snap the wire tie. The cable should just snap right out of there. Then pull it forward and out, and they're finally waved down. Use your courtesy light, the same it pulls right off. Okay, to get the shield off you want to disconnect your mirror. Then remove anything basically that's screwed up to the door panel which is this bracket, this bracket, and our speaker. I'm going to fast-forward here as I remove those things.
Obviously, the speaker, when you pull it out, it has a connector at the back that just pulls off. Then the only other thing is when you start taking the water shield off, you'll have to pull the harness where the mirror plugged in, that will have to be pulled away from the door. Then carefully pull the water shield off, do your best not to tear it or rip it. You want to put it back on there intact the same way.
Your regulator, you can probably see right through there, is a cable activated regulator. What will happen often is the cable breaks. Once the cable breaks, you can use this just grab your window and move it up and down by hand. Just move it to a position where you can loosen this bolt and then this bolt here. These bolts, when they're tightened up, you pinch these clamps against the window until it holds the window into the regulator. 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension, once you loosen them up, you want to grab your window and pull your window up out of these clamps.
You can see just put a couple of pieces of tape to hold our window up. Our window motor plugs in right here, push this tab out, then push it down on this tab and disconnect. Now you need to loosen this bolt, and this one right up in here, another one here. Okay, this bolt and this bolt down here. It will pull up our regulator. Back up here, push it back.
Here's a new regulator from 1A Auto. It goes in. A slight difference with this is this does have a pigtail and a motor but it doesn't make much of a difference at all. I'm going to put it right in. I did put my original bolts in all the holes, just thread them in to start. Put it right in. All my bolts are through here, slide it down so these two on here happens on there. Same thing up here: get that bolt in. All in correctly, now tighten them up. I'm just going to speed it up here as I tighten those five bolts that hold the regulator to the door. I'm just going to loosen the two bolts for the pinch brackets for the window, just loosen them up a couple of turns.
Reach out. I'm going take my window. Work the window slide down into place. Make sure it goes between the brackets and tighten them all back up. Connect the harness and walk that back on. We use our key on, then plug our gray connector back in. Do a quick test and see if it works.
I'm going fast-forward here again as I put that water shield back in place and feed the cables through. Make sure you feed all your harnesses through, then just use the shape of the water shield to line itself up. Make sure that you set screw holes for your speakers and those brackets, make sure you can see them and you don't put the shield on there so that's blocking any of those. Obviously, you use your Phillips screwdriver and reattach the speaker. Make sure you remember to plug in the speaker and the other brackets that hold the door panel.
Bring the door panel over. I'm going to plug in our light way down here first, but we can't see it. Plug in our speaker, plug in our screw harnesses there. This goes in, they have to peek down around, pull your lock up, you slide it backwards in, and just leave it there for now. This one goes into the handle and lock this clip on. Bring it around, pull it back the cable in and down. As you bring the door panel towards the door, just put this cable in, panel up and on. Back in here put our two screws back in. Put our little trim doors back on.
