Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
I'm going to use a small flat bladed screwdriver to pop this up. I'm going to use an 8mm socket, an extension, and a ratchet to remove this 8mm bolt. I'll put that aside. I had to wedge a small flat bladed screwdriver in there, because there's no relief to get a screwdriver in. I'll use the other part of my plastic trim tool and get the plastic trim tool under here. Very difficult to remove. You just have to keep working at it. Remove the 8mm bolt. At the bottom of the door, there are two 6mm bolts. Use a 6mm socket, and remove those.
These are actually more like self-tapping screws with a 6mm head. So you can't pull on the door straight out. It has to go up first. You want to lift it up, just like that, and then off of the door panel. We'll reach in here, remove the door handle. You need to unlock this cable from the plastic trim. I'm using some needle nose pliers. Push in on the tabs. I'll push it out and through, and then put the little lead ball that's on the end of it, it's more like a cylinder, but it'll pop right out. I want to unplug the power folding mirror switch. Reach underneath, push the lock in, and pull it down.
Now, I want to do the same for the master window switch. Push in on the lock, and pull this down. Push down on all these locks, now the door panel will come off. The mirror plug is up here behind this plastic. You don't really need to peel it all back. There's a lock in there, I'm going to push it. It might be easier with my other finger, and then pull just like that. And I'll just leave it like that. There are three nuts on the studs holding the mirror to the body. I'm going to use 11-millimeter deep socket and remove them. Put those aside so you can reuse them. It should pull out of the door straight right out.
We have our broken mirror. Here's our original, broken mirror from our vehicle. A brand new towing mirror from 1AAuto.com. It has the same power fold option. This will manual telescope, you have to really push on it. That way it doesn't slide in on you. It's got a turn signal is up here, as opposed to being down here. It also has the memory function for the mirror. And this should fit great and really look great on our vehicle. This new mirror does come with hardware. I'm going to reuse the old ones, and I'll just take these off. Since the old ones are in good shape and they have a wider base, I'm going to use these instead. To feed these wires through the opening, push our mirror in to the door panel. It also helps to have the window down so you can just reach through. Capture one of these so the mirror doesn't fall. Capture the other ones. Now I'm going to tighten these down, kind of bring them in evenly. You can see the mirror getting tight against the door. As soon as I feel them get tight, I'll just go a little turn more. You don't want to over-tighten them and pull the studs out of the plastic, so we'll go a little more just like that. Put our harness back up, plug it in. Stuff that up into the door. That just kind of sat over that.
See these hooks are on the edge of the door panel instead of clips, so just while I hook everything up, I'm going to rest the door panel just like that so I don't have to hold it, and just push it against myself so it doesn't fall backwards, and hook the door release handle cable right here. It's going to push through.
I'm going to reach down and plug in the master window switch. I may have to push the door panel in. Kind of feel for these. Get this one in there. Now, I'm going to put the door panel up, and I push it, and get it hooked in place. You also have to capture this, the door lock little plunger. That can be tricky to line up. Make sure the door's unlocked, because it will make it this much taller and easier to line up. So that's it.
Door panel is hooked to the doorframe. Now I can bolt it back up. Put the bottom self-tapping bolts back in. Install the bolt behind the door handle. Install the bolt in the little door pull area. Install the little trim piece. Snaps down into place. Reinstall the trim that goes behind the door handle. Go this way with it. It snaps into place.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1AAuto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years! We're dedicated to delivering quality auto parts, expert customer service, and fast and free shipping, all backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. So visit us at 1AAuto.com, your trusted source for quality auto parts.
In this video, we're going to be talking about setting up the lighting on your upgraded tow mirrors, for a 2007-2014 Ford F150.
Now, the trouble people have been having with this mirror, is when you plug it in, these lights on the outside operate like the puddle light did on your factory mirror, which would mean when you open the door or when you unlock or lock your truck, that little light on the bottom of the mirror that illuminates the ground by the door, turns on. That's going to be how this light functions from the factory.
Fortunately, if you want to change it up, we've made it easy for you to change what powers your lighting. Simply pull out the harness that goes into the base plate of the mirror, and you'll find a brown wire. Unplug this, and, we'll take one of these red wires in the kit included with your mirror.
Using the red wire included with your kit, simply plug this end in, and run the other end to either a turn signal or side marker power source to make the light on your mirror function in the same way. All you need to do is install one of the included double barrel crimp connectors to get that power source connected to here and get your mirror light functioning exactly how you want.

I am now having my 2nd replacement set shipped. They work well and look good. However, DO NOT let anyone fold them even ONE TIME manually. The gearing inside will break immediately and it will start shaking while driving. I like the mirrors, but for $500, you'd think the interior gearing would be a little better.
It is good that 1A will do exchanges, but since I have to pay return shipping, I'll be out almost $160.
Easy to install and looks god

Put these on my 2011 F150. Only took about 15-20 minutes per side to install. Defiantly makes a difference and still looks good!

I was a little apprehensive when I bought these mirrors. Installing them by myself seemed intimidating. Fortunately 1A auto had a great video on how to remove the door panels and install the mirrors. It took me less than an hour to install and connect both mirrors. They look great, work exactly like the factory mirrors, and provide superb vision for pulling my travel trailer. I can't imagine a better product nor better support!
Excellent upgrade

Installation was a breeze on my 2013 FX4. It was super easy to rewire and run the additional wire through the factory boot into the interior of the truck. The most difficult part of the installation was removing the plate behind the door handle (one of the first steps in disassembling the door). I went to O'Reilly and bought a right angle pick (https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/performance-tool-4601/tools---equipment-16488/tools-17919/mechanics-tools-16816/mirrors-magnets-pick-up-tools-17999/hook-pic-set/w942/4614726?viewName=redirect%3A%2Fdetail%2Fperformance-tool-4601%2Ftools---equipment-16488%2Ftools-17919%2Fmechanics-tools-16816%2Fmirrors-magnets-pick-up-tools-17999%2Fhook-pic-set%2Fw942%2F4614726) after struggling for a few minutes and that did the job with almost no effort. I was on the fence about upgrading and could not be happier that I did. 1A answered my questions immediately and shipped very fast. Overall excellent product and customer service.

The mirrors are beasts. They weigh about twice the originals. My only complaint was the lack of instructions of both paper and video. I ended up looking at quite a few useless YouTube videos. That being said, they were pretty easy to install. A small stand screwdriver and a 6mm, 8mm, and 11mm sockets are all you really need. I used my stock mirror nuts instead of the new ones because they had a larger washer attached. So far, so good. The customer service was also good.
Mirrors work great but . . .

The mirrors work great, and install was a snap. The mirrors work as intended and perfectly replace the factory mirrors on my 2014 F150.
1 annoyance kept this from 5 star. The Driver side mirror folds slower than the passenger side mirror. My old mirrors seemed to be in Sync but these are not. (they have been folded and unfolded more than 10 times now)
Additionally the video from 1A was nearly perfect. really let me install with confidence. My truck did have some some additional covers around the lock that were not in the video. Removing that made resetting the door panel much easier.
Met my expectations

These mirrors work great and were easy to install. Installation video was key to my decision to buy and install myself. Big mirror viewing area is very helpful to keeping an eye on my trailer and backing it into a camping spot. This website is more helpful than the Ford Dealerships I called.

Mirrors are awesome, they look great and they operate great! A couple things to consider, the foam pad on the back of the mirrors needs cut for a super flush fit, do not over tighten and break the plastic! Doesnt seem super strong and they are much heavier than factory! One other thing is, they need to give some idea as to where to wire in to have the clearance light to work! I wired mine into the door lock and unlock (the backlight for the switch). Otherwise you would have wires hanging in the door jam if you were to wire anywhere else. Im liking them so far!

I have a 2014 F150 FX4 with power folding mirrors that has a power fold switch on the driver door. Do I still need to install the separate switch that comes with these mirrors or can the stock switch be used?September 22, 2015

The stock switch can be used . These mirrors will function just like oem. Just install and use the existing connector . This part# 1AMRP01415 is the correct one to order , as it comes without the switch (which isn't needed) for your application.

October 22, 2015

10
Nope, no puddle light. Instead, the clear LED turn signal on the side of the mirror has two LEDs in the housing. The top one acts as a turn signal, and the bottom one comes wired to what the puddle light used to be. With these mirrors, the bottom LED is only on if you have your doors open or when unlock your truck. 1AAuto includes a wiring harness so you can tap into a different wire to make the bottom LED act as a turn signal or running light (instructions are VERY poor on how to do this, but you could possibly figure it out if you were electrically savvy enough and you found some corresponding Ford electrical diagrams). Hope this helps!

10
No, they don't. Also, if your truck has memory mirrors (sometimes included with memory seats), you will lose that too. But, I have been pleased with these. Pricey, but they work as advertised, nice quality. Huge improvement when towing. The installation was kinda tricky, the wiring harness was not plug-and-play on my truck. I had to modify it. The instructions say to install the switch in the lower dash area, but I put mine next to the mirror adjustment control on the driver's door. This required further modification of the wires, but well worth it. There was just enough room on my 2011 F150 to fit the switch there. Once you have the door panel off you will see.

The connectors will match, but I found I had to modify the harness significantly to install it as I wanted. This meant lengthening some wires. Not a big deal if you're handy, but it did not plug and play. My truck is a 2011. Also I did not like where they suggested mounting the switch, that necessitated another mod to the harness. I put the switch on the sill under the driver's window forward of the mirror control switch. Once the door panel was off I could see there was just enough room for it there. That was a good decision, I'm very happy with that location. Very handy, intuitive. Overall these are good mirrors, well made. One mirror stopped working shortly after installation, they replaced it no questions asked with a new set. I fold these every day, sometimes multiple times, to get my truck into the garage. They work every time no problem.

Also the saved memory settings dont always work either which they fail to mention. A lot of time the mirrors will adjust all the way up when you start the truck and you will have to adjust them each time. Doesnt always do this.. hit or miss with it.

When I purchased my mirrors, in 2016, there were no after market trailer mirrors that offered extension, power fold, memory & puddle lights. The only way to get all the features was to buy from Ford @ $1,100 each. I sacrificed the puddle lights on my 2013 F150 Platinum & it was well worth it. I use the power fold regularly & have had no problems. Even on the occasions where someone has pushed a mirror In manually, all that was required was a reset (power out & in) and every thing was back in order. I would definitely recommend this mirror set.

TR00173 set of mirrors. The when folded out in normal operating position are both driver and passenger mirror at the same angle to the sides of the truck? I see that some comments say the driver mirror is slower to fold in than the passenger mirror, December 29, 2023

Yes the drivers side has more travel time as it is out further. But mine work great and its only a second or two.

These mirrors are made to function exactly as the original mirrors. Mirrors should be replaced in an "option for option" fashion. If your mirrors do not have the same options that are listed in our listing, there is a possibility that this mirror may not function properly.
