Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
All right, our tail light on this Murano is broken, so we're going to replace it. If you're driving around with a broken tail light and you get a citation, your vehicle is not going to pass state inspection. We’ll show you how to replace it.
Open up the hatch. We need to pop this plastic trim out. I'm going to use our plastic trim tool, or you can use a flat-bladed screwdriver. Just kind of work it out of here. Get some clips just like that. Go up and out. There are two 10-millimeter bolts holding it in here. Loosen these up. The taillight is bolted here, and then it's sitting on pins on the outside part. After the two bolts are removed, there's two pins that are going straight into the body, so I need to pull them off there.
I'm going to use this plastic prying tool. You can get these from 1AAuto.com. I just want to work this in and not damage the paint. Get under here with this prying tool. Those are in there with quite a bit of force. That was on that pin that went into here, and the same thing, this pin down here went into here.
So now we got to unplug it. Again, I'm going to take this prying tool and just pull up on the grommet. Just kind of work it out of the body. Guide this up and out, because there's my connector. I can swing this over here. Dump some of the water out of my hand that was inside the tail light. Push this down in here to unlock the connector. Don't have the finger strength, you can use a pine tool like this to press in on the lock. Release it to pull it out. That's our broken tail light.
Here's our original tail light from our vehicle. It's cracked, it's broken, and had water in it. Here's a brand new one from 1AAuto.com. A leaf on there. But it's a perfect match. You can see in the style, the same mounting holes.
Flip it over. It's got these same mounting points that the original has. This one comes loaded with the harness and bulbs, because part of this is, it's got LED in it for the tail lights. So that's all set that's in there. Close this cap up, you don't really need to ever open it.
There are marker bulbs in here. A little peanut bulb in there: 194. And in here, there is a turn signal bulb. Actually is a 7440. Should be all set. Going to install this in the vehicle. It should look great, fit great and work great. So I'm going to reconnect the electrical connection. Feed it back in to the body, then push the grommet back in. Just like that.
To reinstall it, there are these pins here and here. They line up with these clips here and here. We're going to push those in. Get lined up and push it right in. Now it's locked in place. Going to reinstall the two 10-millimeter bolts. Just going to tighten those down. When I feel them get tight, I will stop. No need to kill them. The tail lamp's bolted up. I'm going to reinstall the plastic trim cover. Let's get some clips. You're going to go just in here like this. Pop them over. Get this one locked in. All right, the tail lamp's replaced.
