In this video, we're going to be working with our 2011 Chevy Camaro. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your vehicle's inner taillight - this is the same on either the passenger or driver side - as well as the chrome bezel that goes around it. If you like this video, please click subscribe. We have a ton more information on this and many other vehicles. If you want these parts for your car, you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com. Here are the items you'll need for this repair.
Remove the three plastic tabs. This is called the tail lamp closeout panel. We'll use a trim tool for this. You can use the plastic one, or I have a steel one, here. You can also do this with a pair of needle nose pliers or a flat blade screwdriver. Just lift the center tab up. You don't need to remove it fully. Then pop the base of it out. We'll do the same thing on the other two. Remove the closeout panel.
Remove the trim bezel from the inner taillight with a plastic trim tool. Some people like to use a flat blade screwdriver for this. Personally, I prefer the plastic trim tool, because it's usually still rigid enough to pop it out without needing to put a metal screwdriver blade against your lens and potentially crack or damage it. Just kind of go around and slowly work the tabs out, and remove the bezel.
Disconnect the electrical connector and undo the three 10 millimeter nuts securing it to the bumper. We'll do this using a combination of a 10 millimeter socket and ratchet, and you may need to use a wrench for the bottom one. Now, there's really not a lot of torque on these at all. Once you get them cracked loose, you should just be able to remove them by hand. Remove the housing from the bumper.
Reinstall your taillight. You have two locating pins on it and two notches you'll see in the bumper. We'll line those up. Reinstall the three 10 millimeter nuts as tight as we can by hand. We'll then just snug them up a little. We'll use the wrench on the bottom, then we'll go for the socket and ratchet on the top two.
Line up the tabs on the bezel and pop it in until it locks into place. Reconnect your electrical connector. Install your closeout panel, and set the three tabs back in. Leave the tops popped up. Set the bases in fully, and you simply push them down, and you're good to go.
