Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
We're going to remove the driver's door panel. There's a little piece of plastic trim behind the handle. We're going to use a plastic prying tool—you can get these from 1AAuto.com. Just pop it out, put that aside. There's a Phillips head screw behind here. Unscrew that, take that screw out, and put it aside. You need to get the master window switch out. This silver trim is also going to come off. Best way is to get one of these prying tools back here and just pry up on it. That's going to come straight up. See all the tabs here and the clips. We'll put that aside.
This should pull up and out. We'll unlock it by pushing down the lock tab and pulling that out. There is a hidden screw inside this little grab pocket. Take the prying tool and just flip up this rubber piece. Just take it out and there's your screw down in there. Take your Phillips head screwdriver and pull that screw out.
I'm going to remove this courtesy light from the bottom of the door. Small flat bladed screwdriver, just slide it in there, pry it right out. You can unplug it, pushing the lock, pulling it out. I need to pop the door panel off the clips. Sometimes you need to use a plastic prying tool. Sometimes you just start at the bottom, work your way up. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of force to get these off. It feels like you're going to break them, but you're really not. It's best to do this on a day that's pretty warm though. With those all free, the door panel's going to come straight up off of the door panel just like that. The actual handle assembly just came right out from behind it.
To get to the mirror, we need to remove this trim right here. It just pops off. If you can get your fingers behind it, and pull it down. There's three bolts holding in the mirror, but the wiring harness goes through the door and up in here, so we can unplug it now by pushing in the lock tab and pulling it out. But it's going to be difficult to feed it through here, so I'm going to remove this plate. We need to use a Phillips head screwdriver, or a 10 millimeter socket. Pull that out, pop this plate off, and put that right back on there. Put that aside, so now we can feed the wire right out. There's our wire.
Now we can undo the three bolts holding in the mirror. Put those aside. Now I've come into the outside here, I do it with the window down, that does help. So you can see it's loose, but there is this plastic tab here, so I'm going to push in those two tabs, feed the mirror out of the door. There is our door mirror. The opposite side will be exactly the same, just a mirror image of it.
Here's our original mirror that came off the vehicle, and our brand new one from 1AAuto.com. Same style connector. This one is both power and heated, just like the original. The new one comes with a separate cap, you can take this off, bring it to a body shop, and have it painted to match your car. Or you can just install it as is. Or you can try to swap this over. But it is identical to the original, and it should work and fit great for you.
To swap this cap over, take a small flat bladed screwdriver, kind of work it under here. Pop the cap off. I'm going to take the plastic trim tool, slide it under here. Just work it all the way around. So work the prying tool all the way around. Pop this off. Let's see here. It sounded like I was breaking it and smashing it, but really I was just popping it off these tabs. Spider's nest in there. Actually that's the only tab I broke, no big deal. Otherwise it's in usable shape.
We'll take the painted cap from our original, push it right onto the new one. Will snap right into place. This will work great in the car just like this.
We'll take our new mirror, feed the harness through there. Install the mirror into place. This one doesn't have a clip, but the original one does. Get one of our bolts handy here, I'm just going to capture it so the mirror doesn't fall off the door. Now I can come around the other side and finish putting them in. Snug these down. Run our harness out, plug it back in. Reinstall this little plate. It goes this way, screw hole facing down, and pushes right into place. This little self-tapping screw goes in here. Reinstall this cap.
Reinstall the door panel. Going to line up our door handle through here. Going to make sure that the courtesy light harness is coming through the bottom just like that. Make sure our master window switch is up in the opening out of the top of the door panel. Hook it over, pull it down, and then push it into the clips. Make sure my master window switch harness stays up here, it doesn't get caught. It's all back into the clips. Going to reinstall the screw.
Reinstall the screw that's in here. That little foam piece. Install this trim, clip it into the front first, it snaps into place. Plug the master window switch back in, push it in place. Take our silver trim, we'll line it up, it slides down from the top, just like that.
