In this video, we're going to be working with our 2006 Chrysler 300. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your brake light switch, which is responsible for recognizing the fact that you've put down your brake pedal and turning the lights on at the back of the vehicle. If you like this video, please click subscribe, we have a ton more information on this car as well as many other makes and models, and if you need this part for your vehicle, you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com. Here are the items you'll need for this repair.
Remove the lower insulator panel above your pedal cluster. You can see we have some of these plastic tabs. Now you can pry these off with a screwdriver or a pair of side cutters, but our interior trim removal tools from 1A Auto work great with these. All you’ve got to do is slide that hooked end under both sides of the clip and pop it out. This screw doesn't actually secure the carpet, you just have to fold it up so it doesn't get caught. This clip here was disconnected, right in the middle. You may have to pop that out, but ours was just hanging. Then you can pull the whole insulator panel out of the vehicle.
Follow your brake pedal all the way up to the top and you'll see off to the left we have this white box. That is your brake light switch. If this is broken or out of adjustment, it's going to prevent your brake lights from coming on when you push the pedal down. All we have to do to remove it is grab the back and turn it counterclockwise one click, and pull it straight out. We're going to use our trim tool to lift up on these tabs and release the electrical connector. It's a lot easier to do it down here rather than when it's up under the dash and you can't really see what you're doing or get a good angle on it. Now we can remove our switch.
Reconnect the connector. Make sure that clicks in there good. Now we line up our switch into the opening the same way it came out, turn it clockwise one click. Make sure it's in there and that the switch engages and disengages with the pedal. Reinstall this insulator above the pedal. The rear has some tabs that it sits over back there just to hold it up. Set the front back into place. Once everything's lined up, make sure you push those little plastic tabs back in to secure it. Once everything's back in place, you're good to go.

Switch fit and worked as intended. My second order from A1 auto, and it was my second late delivery. Missed the estimated delivery date by 4 days. Don't purchase items from A1 auto if you are on a strict timeline.

Although I havent purchased a lot of parts, when I have, 1aauto always had the part I needed, at the best price. Always shipped on time, and the part always arrived in excellent condition. The service after placing the order was outstanding! They notified me when it shipped, with all tracking information. I put 1aauto on my phone to make it easy to purchase parts when needed. Doesnt get any better!
