Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how to video helps you out. Next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a mirror on this 2003 Cavalier, pretty much the same as any '97 to '05 Cavalier. This vehicle does have the manual mirrors so this procedure is only for manual mirrors. Tools you'll need are Philips screwdriver, a 10mm wrench as well as a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
Okay. Philips screwdriver, there's a screw right here. Remove it. Okay. Then this kind of lifts up. It comes off. There's some insulation back in here. Pull that out. Okay, then you have three 10mm nuts to hold this on. Okay, I'm just going to use a 10mm wrench. A little difficult to get this one, get it first. Use a 10mm wrench, get it in there and just loosen up that nut. Just takes a little bit of time. Then when you get it loose, just carefully pull it out of there. You don't want to drop it down further into the door.
Okay these two are easy to get out with a 10mm socket with an extension and ratchet. Okay. Pull and push on the mirror. Bases usually get stuck on the door. Your mirror comes right off. As you can see, my original mirror is in good shape. I am going to remount it. Mirror is from 1A Auto. They come just like the original. They're going to bolt right into place. Just need to put it in. Get it in place and make sure the studs get through. I'm just going to take my nut, put it into the socket then put it on. Do the same thing for this one down here. Okay, then lastly this one here. Carefully, I'm kind of using two fingers to get it into place and get it started. Push in on the mirror. I'll get it as tight as I can with my finger. Tighten these two here that were easy to get to. Nice and firm but not over tight. Turns in here again. Tighten it up some with the finger. Then use the wrench. Just need to get in here.
Okay, once that's tightened up put our insulation right back in. Take our trim, put it back on. Screw through, kind of peek through the back and see if the screw is going into the hole. Tighten that up. We're all set.

Hi, I'm Mike Green, I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we'll be showing you how to replace a manual mirror on this 1997 Pontiac Sunfire same as pretty much a '95 to '05 Sunfire or Cavalier with the manual mirrors and all the only tools you'll need are a Phillip's screwdriver and a 10mm wrench or socket and ratchet.
If you have one of these Cavaliers or Sunfire's with a manual mirror usually if they have manual windows the manual mirror we'll place that here if you give it a little run-ins, it's really a pretty easy task. Just a little Phillip's screwdriver right here for a Phillip's screw. Remove that, the plate comes off and then you can pull this little piece of foam rubber out and there's three 10mm bolts. You see right there, one, two and three. I think you have to be really careful of this, make sure you don't drop these bolts, and for these back two others, 10mm socket and ratchet will be your best bet.
There's the mirror off. Here's the original mirror, here's the mirror from 1A Auto. You can see everything's all the same. 1A Auto mirror comes with a gasket and everything and we'll go on there and fix your broken mirror. Now, obviously this one's fine so we're going to reinstall it and that's really just a reversal of procedure.
Push the mirror on. Get all three bolts on first and then when you tighten these up you want them firm but you don't want to tighten them too much because it is a plastic mirror and you don't want to break studs right out of the plastic. You put your foam on, the tab on the plastic piece that goes behind and then start your Phillip screw and then tighten it up. Then you're all set.
