Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a tailgate cable on this 1996 Chevy Tahoe. We show you on the one on the driver's side, but the one on the passenger side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this include new tailgate cables from 1AAuto.com and an 8mm and 18mm socket and ratchet.
Pull down your tailgate. Right here, there's an 18mm bolt. You want to just go ahead and remove that. While you're doing this make sure you have the other cable or something supporting the tailgate so it doesn't drop down and damage it.
Now, you want to remove this 8mm bolt on the other end of the cable. The cable will pull free.
In the back is the old cable; up front is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they're going to fit exactly the same. Now line up the cable, replace that lower bolt, and tighten it up. We'll just fast-forward as Don does this and then lines up the top part of the cable, replaces that 18mm bolt, and tightens that up. Once both bolts are tightened, you're all set.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

So far so good. Only time will tell. The price was very reasonable. They look like the stock tailgate cables. Good fit!
