The generic mirror already has a large scratch going across the face of the mirror, and there's pitting around the edges where the reflective material is already starting to fail. The Trail Ridge mirror has a much finer, more uniform finish. There’s nice clean metal on the hinge for this mirror. The generic part is already rusting out on the hinge. It's brand new. It's never been exposed to the elements. It's rusting out already.
We have the same color sockets on the generic mirror. The ends have waterproofing in them. Somebody did this very quickly. They also have steel contacts on them. On the Trail Ridge Truck mirrors, the sockets are color coded. We know which one goes where. We have a brass contact that's not going to corrode, and it's going to conduct electricity much more smoothly.
The wiring on the Trail Ridge mirror uses the OEM color coding, so all of these colors and pin-outs are going to match up for the factory wiring colors, as well as the pin locations. This generic mirror used whatever color wiring they had around. The wires in the Trail Ridge mirror are also a much heavier gauge. It also comes with an adapter harness for the earlier model trucks, that weren't as feature packed as the newer ones, which while still using the same bolt-on application, will have a different wire harness connector.
The Trail Ridge truck mirror still has that cool tinted look without being so dark that you're not going to be able to see your turn signals and side markers. The motor on the generic mirror is very loose. I can move this very easily by hand. The Trail Ridge truck mirror has nice smooth movement. It actually takes a little bit of force. These are zero-clearance motors, which means they're a lot more accurate. If you're using your mirror switch and you adjust it, when you let off, that's where it's staying.
We have a higher quality steel here. The ends are nice and secure, where you can see these are all bent up and banged up already.

In this video we'll be replacing a side view mirror on this 2004 GMC Sierra, basically the same as '99 to '06 Silverado, Sierra, and the SUV's, Tahoe, Yukons, Escalades.
Replacing the mirror is actually pretty easy. It's only three bolts holding it on and then unplugging the connector, but you do have to remove the door handle, I'm sorry, the door panel. We're going to show you that pretty quick in this video, too. The tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers, a 7mm socket and driver, a number two Torx driver and a 10mm socket and driver.
We're going to double-time the door panel removal. To start out, you pry the ferrule around the door lock and the door lock button comes off. Then the mirror panel, which you would think that this is the only thing you've got to replace or take off, but that's not the case. It just has two clips that you use a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth and then the screwdriver to get the door handle trim plate off. Then there's a small plastic push pin. Use a screwdriver to start it and then some needle nose pliers. Then there's a little trim piece that you can just pull off with your finger. A number two Torx screw, take that screw out. You'll see me move quick here, like lightning. Then there's two more bolts, 7mm. One right there, next to the lock. Pull that out, lightning hands again, and then one up underneath the door pull, again 7mm, and again, lightning quickness. Once those bolts are out, the door panel just pulls up and out.
Then you'll need to unplug the courtesy light. Right here, actually, is where your mirror connects in. That one and that one is actually the mirror connection. We will need to go all the way with this, though, because you'll have to pull off your plastic water shield. Here's another connector, it's got a little tab and then this little lever pivots in order for that connector to come off. A little bit different. You can see me struggle with it there. Then the last connector, and then your speaker, provided you have the up level stereo or whatever. Take the speaker off and then you'll want to, after that, remove your door handle, which is pretty simple too. There's a little blue clip on there that holds that rod in place. Use a screwdriver to start it and then your finger to just reach in there, pull the rod out, 10mm bolt, unscrew that, slide the handle forward and it comes off.
Now you'll want to pull your water shield out. This is basically just to get the harness for the mirror off. I'm going to take it all the way off here, but you can just pull it down enough to get the harness free for your mirror. I'll show you, as far as replacing the mirror; it is three bolts, and unplugging the mirror. There's your mirror mounting. There are the three bolts. They are, I believe, 7mm, possibly 8mm. You would remove those three nuts and then you've got to remove the clips on this harness, which goes down into your door. That's why you have to take the door panel off, because that harness goes all the way down into your door. Once you've done that, you can replace the mirror, put the door panel back together and you're good to go. I hope this helps you out.

Overall I enjoy these mirrors. I installed them on my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LB7 Duramax to replace my factory mirrors that were broken. Installation was very easy and probably took me an 1.5 hours. After you get past the learning curve with what is needed for removing the body panels, the rest is a breeze. These came with factory style connectors so my blinkers worked as well as the factory mirror adjustment. 3 things I did not like (which are not deal breakers): you cannot level these mirrors, they will wobble no matter how tight you make them. They do not fold flat against the truck, it's close but does not lay flush. And lastly, my driver side mirror came with an 1.25" scratch on the plastic right out of the box. I wasn't worth the hastle of trying to get a replacement so I installed them anyways. Passenger side was perfect.
The install was simple and overall feels solid. The reason I won't give 5stars is that the large mirrors do shake when going ~40mph+ and over bumps etc. I have heard this is common to these tow mirrors so I won't be looking to replace, it is what it is.

NO. SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT WITH THE MIRROR OUT
I just installed on my 2004 tahoe, and I have the same features as your truck, and these were plug and play, I just haven't had a chance to see if the defrost works but I don't see why it wouldn't. I also don't use the curb assist so I didn't see if that would work either. Hope that helps answer your question
