Ruined front differential

I put this on my 94 k1500 in 2020, apparently I got a bad unit from the factory and didn't know it, I had been driving around for awhile and got some front end noise, took it to my mechanic and they informed me my front diff was toast, they put in a new front diff, put this same actuator in the new front diff and fluid was coming through the actuator body and out through the wire connector on the back. Apparently the seals went bad and they believe all the fluid leaked out of my front diff through the actuator. It cost me 3300$ with labor for a new front end, we will see how good the warranty on it is. Hopefully my experience was a one time quality issue
Easy to install

Instructions are pretty straight forward, easy to install. My old thermal actuator wasn't working, so I converted it to this now 4wd works.
Front axle actuator install.

The unit and cable looked great! It works which makes it even better. The only problem I had was splicing the brown wire into the transfer case connector. I didnt have a waterproof splice, plus I didnt have the removal tool to pull the brown wire out of the connector for the transfer case switch. I decided to strip out about 3/8 inch of insulation on that wire and solder the brown wire from the new cable assembly to it, then I chose to seal the solder connection with epoxy to make to waterproof. It should never be an issue there under the truck. Except for that solder connection it was an easy install. Now my front axle locks in great.

Customer Q&A
What wire on the vehicle do you splice the brown wire on the harness to?

look for a 3 wire connector at top drivers side of transfer case. I believe it is called the transfer case switch connector in wire diagram, i installed on 96 Chevy p/u. It was pretty close to the transfer case motor. This connector is mounted upright, and has Blu, Brown, and some other color wire, light Blu maybe. splice into the brown, it will be 12v on when switched to 4hi and or 4lo.

I didnt splice into the harness. I ran the wire inside to the connection box on the firewall behind the emergency brake. In the DRK GRN slot, it just takes a small female blade connector. Hope this helps

The one I got when I purchased this was a motorized unit, hence the extra brown wire and puck spacer.

Thank you for the inquiry. Yes, this will be a motorized unit. This kit is designed to replace the original shift actuator with the new, revised version. It includes the correct adapter harness for trouble free installation! Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

The circular cap is actually a metal button spacer that must go in the axle housing before the new electrical actuator.

Do you have a kit that has the rest of the harness so i can just plug it in instead of splicingso from axle to shifter and transfer case?
