Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we are going to show you how to replace the door panel pull trim that often breaks on these vehicles. This is a 2005 GMC Savana, pretty much the same for any 2003 to '12 or '13 Savana as well as the Chevy Express. Only tools you will need are a flat blade screwdriver and a Philips screwdriver as well as a new door panel repair kit from 1AAuto.com.
Start with the flat blade screwdriver and pry out on this outer panel and usually this is the panel, that's all broken on most trucks anyways. Now you can remove the inner panel by removing six screws: three small ones there, a larger one there and another small one there and a larger one there. We are just going to fast forward as we remove all those screws and once those screws are out, we might have to pull a little bit, but that panel comes off. We use a flat blade screw driver again and pry on the panel that is right behind the door handle and that comes out.
We have the old one on the left and you can see that the door pull area is broken on the old one. That's, a lot of times, what happen. The new one from 1A Auto is going to fix that problem. You can put the bracket in the back, back on and secure it with the six screws. The two larger screws go in each end, right where you pull on the panel. A little bit of assembly is required. They are just clips that come with the outer trim piece. Press those clips onto the tabs on the inside of the trim panel and we'll just install it like we took it off. Align, and press it in, and set the clips.
