Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to replace the upper engine mounts on this 2006 Chevy Impala. It's a pretty easy process because it's right there as you open the hood. You'll need a 15mm wrench and then a ratchet with 15mm and 13mm sockets, as well as a pry bar.
Start out with the hood open and there are four 15mm bolts and two 13mm bolts. We'll fast forward here as we remove all those. Remove the oil cap and the tube that goes down in and pull up on your engine cover. Just replace that cap and tube to keep the oil and anything out of your engine. There are two 15mm nuts; use a 15mm wrench and a socket and ratchet and remove those. Now, each of assemblies comes right up and out.
Now you need a 15mm wrench and the socket and ratchet again. Best practice, actually, is to just loosen these up before you take it out of the vehicle. Depending on which part of the mount you need to replace. You can replace it as necessary. Then you put this back together outside the vehicle. You want to put it together but you don't need to tighten it up all the way right now. Just tighten it up preliminary and then you'll tighten it up all the way when you get it into the vehicle.
You'll need to use a pry bar to help you get the engine in the right position and get the bolts started into the front cross brace. Basically, all you want to do is to make sure you get all the bolts started in first, all the bolts, the two bolts that go to the engine as well as all six bolts. Get those started and then tighten everything up. The 15mm bolts, you want to tighten between 50 and 55 foot-pounds. The 13mm bolts could be tightened to about 35 foot-pounds.

2008 Impala Torque Strut Kit
David
February 3, 2021
I purchased this kit to replace the original GM parts that were worn out after 12 years of use. The price was great and the parts were a direct replacement. I watched the installation video to help with the installation. The only thing I did differently, was to remove and replace one mount/strut at a time. This prevented the engine from moving too much. I did still have to pull the motor forward a little to get the bolts started at the top of the radiator.

Easy insallation and a decent fit. These are no where near the quality of OEM but what is. This was a cheap and easy for my cars issue.
Torque Struts Don't Fit

Ordered this to replace worn mounts on my '09 Impala. The engine mount brackets are fine. The torque struts were off by 1/8th - 3/16ths so the holes could not be lined up. Had to reuse the old parts.
