Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the ignition coil on this 2002 Suzuki XL-7 with the 2.7 liter V6 engine. The items you'll need for this are a Phillips screwdriver and an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
Because it's a V6, there are six ignition coils and spark plugs. There are three on this side, under this cover, and three more on this side under this cover. To access them, you have to remove this cover by removing these two Phillips screws. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Push the tab on the harness for the ignition coil that you want to remove and pull that harness free. Then remove this 8 millimeter bolt. Once it's removed, pull the ignition coil up and out.
Take your new ignition coil and push it down into place. Replace that 8 millimeter bolt. Reconnect the harness. Put this cover back into place, and then replace those two Phillips screws. You're all set.

Competitors charge the same price for each individual coil. This set is ideal for the refurbishment project ideally. My initial thought was to replace just the one seal as water was flowing into the head and grounding out the coil pack and plug causing pre- ignition and carbon build up. As the lip of the pack was torn and cracked due to ten years old of running, I decided to replace all four and lubricate each with dielectric grease to keep the surface plyable and provide insulation from the block.
