Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ years' experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we're going to show you how to remove and replace the side view mirror on this '04 Intrepid same as a '98 to '04. Tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver, and you'll also need an 8mm socket and ratchet or a wrench, and in order to get the door panel on and off it will also help to have a flashlight and a magnet.
You're going to start by removing a series of Phillips screws, one little screwdriver, one right there, one in your door handle pull right there. You've got to remove your speaker grill by prying out, you pry out your grill and then there's three screws here; one there, one up there, and there should be one there but it's missing on this car, a screw there, screw there, and then one on the bottom, two and three on the bottom. And you'll also want to take this little piece of trim pull it back and out.
We're going to speed it up here as I remove those, it counts to be, ten Phillips screws and then at the end here, the end of the fast motion, you'll see me reach into some of those holes with a little extending magnet to pull the screws out so you don't lose them. Once you have those screws out, then you want to grab back here and give it a good pull and lift your door panel up. Pull out on your lock and it will come off. If you want to remove your panel fully pull it out and there's a little clip right here on your door handle. The clip comes off and that comes up and then most of these clips just have little pins on them that you push in. This one has actually a little tab that you can hook with your thumb like that and pull down and it comes out. Then there's two little clips here. Just turn them and pull out.
Next you're going to want to pull back your water shield and be careful not to rip it. It does seem to be a little bit brittle and you pull it back and down and then your mirror is hooked in right down here. There's just a little button on the connector. Just pull the connector free from the door. Press the little button. Pull the connector out. To remove the mirror I'm going to remove two Phillips screws here and a bolt here, and a bolt here. Now as I finish up taking off this last 8mm nut I'm going to take the nut off and then the mirror comes right up and you pull the lead right up and out and free from the door.
So here's our original mirror, the new one from 1A Auto. You can see our original one is actually fine, but I just want to show you the new one from 1A Auto. It's all the same. It's going to plug in the same. So there's my new plug on top. That's the original plug on the bottom so everything is the same. So obviously to reinstall, put the wire down in and just make sure and put my hand down at the bottom here. Pull the harness right out, Put my bolts on. Put the other bolt on. Start this one here. You want to tighten these up. You want to tighten them firm but not too tight. Now plug your lead back in and put your water shield back up.
First I'm going to reconnect all my harnesses, the speaker, put this back into place here, and then the harness also has a pin that you put in. Put the door panel close. I'm just reaching over inserting my lock rod or my door handle rod and putting the clip on. Now lift the door panel up. Make sure your lock button is coming through here. Push the top onto there and then push down. Then make sure the pins over here on the side are lining up and push it into place.
We'll fast forward a little bit as I do the three bottom screws first. These middle ones for the speakers are kind of difficult because they're really far back. I'm using a magnet. You can either do this or magnetize your screwdriver. I'm just using this long magnet kind of put it back in there and feel for it. Start it with the magnet. Same thing with this one. If you don't have one of these little extendable magnets, a great tool to have. For these ones also not bad to have a flashlight around so you can see where they are and get the screwdriver in there on them. Again, there is another one here right in here, but this car was missing that one.
Now we'll speed up the video again as I do the other eight screws and I do have a little trouble with those screws up in the top. They're deep set in there too and if you're water shield shifts around you just kind of have to pierce through the water shield. Just a note for you. You want to replace this little bracket for the trim panel. Slide your trim panel down in here. Push it on. There's two tabs that go in first on your speaker grill and then it presses on.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

Product - excellent; installation video - perfect

The mirror was a perfect fit, and seems of high quality, and a good match for the original.
The key thing for me was the installation video, which 1AAuto had available for this 17 year old car! With the video the installation was not too difficult. I was very glad not to have any frustrations with tricky fasteners, etc., because with the video I knew what to expect.
Perfect Fit!
