2000 Dodge Dakota Rear Wheel Drive Intermediate Steering Shaft TRQ PSA67603

It took me a few hours to remove the old shaft because the bottom retainer bolt busted. It will not come off without removal of that bolt, and the space is tight. I ended up having to use a hack saw to cut the old part up enough to pry out the remains of the old rusted stud. When it came time to install the new shaft, there was no new replacement bolt. I understand I shouldn't expect such things, but it sure would have been helpful. This shaft needed to be replaced because it's in a high corrosion area. The new shaft was a very tight fit on both ends, and the telescoping portion proved extremely tight. Very tough to install in such a tight area, and this is a pickup truck.

Shaft was too short so I noticed that the rubber on the old shaft was moveable. I had to hit it with a hammer to get it to extend. It went in but seems really stiff and it squeaks at the roller in the firewall. There seems to be pressure on the shaft through that bearing. It does steer better and does not make the clunking sounds when turning. Next is the P/S pump and a new rack & pinion.

This is a great product as good as original or doorman replacement at half to a fourth of price. This has the best warranty for price. I was leery of the $35 ones no warranty and looked cheaply made. This removed all the play in the steering and it drives like a new truck!@

Had some issues with the u-joints developing play, very easy warranty process however. Install was easy (13mm socket and long wrench, 10mm socket and short wrench IIRC). Steering wheel did turn left by 15ish degrees, fixable with an alignment but not necessary

Part was $300 at the local parts store and $90 here. 24 hour wait at the store and 48 online. Think about it. I will wait another 24 hours for $210.

This item fit excellent ,works well , the steering wheel alignment is off very little maybe 2 degrees and can be corrected by a new alignment. Fast service and great price.
