Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you headlight replacement as well as changing the bulbs. This is a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, and the procedure for the lights are the same for 2006 to 2008 as well the 2009 2500 and 3500.
We're going to show you replacing the lights on this truck with the black bezel lights, we also sell the clear bezel lights. Items you'll need include new headlights from 1AAuto.com, a 10mm socket with a ratchet extension, and a small flat blade screwdriver.
Open up the door, pop the hood, then reach under, lift up, and then you'll see two screws right here. They're 10mm, you could also use a T30 Torx driver. We'll remove those.
At the front of the tire, behind on the backside of the light, there's a little plug. Pull that out and you can access another 10mm nut in there. Pull firmly out on the light and then hit it with the back of your hand to break the ball and socket free.
If you're just looking to replace your bulbs, turn this one counterclockwise. It comes out, and then you actually pull this red tab. Press down on this tab to disconnect, and then put your new bulb in, and then reinstall by pushing in and turning clockwise. Then this one just turns, it should turn counterclockwise, but I guess it's clockwise. It comes out. This is pulled straight out and back in.
For now, we're just going to disconnect here, pull this one out, and the headlight's out.
There's the old headlight out of the vehicle. It actually looks pretty good although it does have some fading and crazing at the top. Here's a new black bezel light from 1A Auto, it's going to look great in this truck.
Fit right in, reconnect our headlight, push the red safety tab, and then I need to disconnect my parking light. It's best to have a little flat blade screwdriver, press the tab down, pull, press the other tab, pull, disconnect and connect into your new light.
Make sure you line up this into there, this goes into the hole down there, and there's also a tab up here in the front that goes in. If you're clipped in here and your fender doesn't break, if it's still in good shape, it's okay to reuse it. I'll pull the new one off and set it aside, we'll pull the plastic back, just kind of look everything in, and push nice and firm. Good to have a flashlight handy, just load your nut right into the socket, put it in place, then start it, and tighten it up, then push your plug back in place. Then just install these two front screws, a little extra push to get it started. Take our plastic off and put the hood down.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
