Brought to you by 1AAuto.com your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. In this video we're going to show you how to change the fog light on this 2002 Ford Focus, same as any 2000 to 2004, not the same as the SVT though. Pretty easy tool you'll need is a T-20 Torx bit if you're replacing the whole assembly. If you're just looking to replace the bulb we cover that as well for the bulb you don't need any tools.
You can see the fog light got wiped out. Replacing them or even changing your bulb is pretty easy. You can see that little horseshoe right here. Just reach in there and flip that away. I'll show you on the other side because this has got actually a light in it. I reach in, I flip that out. Once you flip that out pull the inside of it out move that over. Make sure the thing that you flip doesn't get back and catch on itself. Then you twist - just reach through, twist your fog light bulb. You want to twist it counter clockwise which if your looking at it like this is actually clockwise. That pulls out and your fog light comes out. The bulb actually will unplug. There's a tab on this side, pull it out there's your bulb. Back to my side where the broken, so I flip that latch back and pull what's left of my fog light out. When you're pulling it out you have to be careful because what happens is this goes back and latches on and then when you flip this latch you can see how that pulls the headlight in and locks it. What will happen is after you flip is this will still be locked on so you just have to make sure you pull that off. What I need to do is I need to transfer this piece onto my new fog light.
What I'm going to do first here is I'm just going to measure how far this bolt is through here and with this ruler it looks like about 12 mm. I'm going to use a T-20 Torx driver and remove this screw. Now I take my new light, put the screw through, push this all the way through. Once you have that through and you put your spring on like that then this part, make sure the clasp is to the outside. You actually want to put it into your light there, it clips in there and then twists down and then you want to thread your screw in. Measure again here, another two turns and we're all our 12 mm. Now put your bulb in and twist it clockwise to lock. When you feed this in you ought to make sure this clap goes through the slot here. Let's plug in our light, make sure it clicks and then you just going to kind of guide this whole clasp over to this side here.
Make sure the whole thing goes over, it's got two parts and one of them doesn't like to do what you want it to. Push the light in and there's a pin on the outside here that has to go into a hole. It goes into a hole here. You want to feed this in, put your light bulb back in, get that pin in that hole. Make sure that clasp goes around then lock it in. There you go, having a fog lights a lot better than not having one and you can see you've got one replaced, now that one over there looks awfully cloudy and dull so you might as well replace them both.

Profound improvement in my safety on the road...
S
November 26, 2020
Bought the replacement fog light lenses for my Focus when the originals no longer responded to cleaning/polishing.
The improvement was astonishing; restoring my peripheral lighting after dark on the convoluted country roads in KYs rolling hills. So much safer now to navigate in these conditions.
