Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to be working on our 2001 Ford Ranger. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your dome light. This is the lens and the actual housing for the dome light.
This information is the same from 1998 up to 2003. If you like this video, please click subscribe. We have a ton more information on this truck, as well as many other makes and models. If you need this part for your vehicle, you can follow the link down in the description and get it from 1AAuto.com.
Here are the items you'll need for this repair: flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver
Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, pry down on the dome light. Reach your fingers behind the lens and curl them back toward you to release the hooks on the lens cover, and remove the dome light cover from the dome light. Remove these three Phillips head screws. Remove the dome light from the vehicle.
Here we have our old dome light and cover that we removed from our vehicle and our new parts from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these parts are exactly the same.
These covers can get kind of yellowed with old age, and this chrome coating here on the inside can fade and crack and lose its reflectiveness. It starts peeling sometimes as well. The temperature of the bulbs can be partly responsible for that, as well as these getting filled with bugs and other debris that coats the inside and makes it difficult for the light to shine through.
So this new dome light from 1AAuto is going to go in. It’s direct fit, just like our original equipment, and will fix you up right.
Reinstall your dome light. The screws come already installed into the light itself, so we just have to tighten those down with a Phillips head screwdriver. Line up the new cover, hooking the front side in first. Snap the rear into place.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
