Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you a tailgate replacement on this '03 F-250, same as most Super Dutys of this era. It is a pretty easy task. You just need a T45 Torx driver with a ratchet handle. Obviously, in this video I show you how to do one side. The other side is basically the exact same procedure, and we always recommend that you replace them in pairs.
Here are the tailgate cables. It's pretty easy. T45 Torx bit with a ratchet handle. Make sure that you either have a good cable on the other side, or that you support your tailgate so that it doesn't fall down and dent. A screwdriver or your finger, pull that tab up, take the old cable off.
The new cable going out on, right down on, just like the old one. Okay, I like to use the old guide, so that's just a little kind of washer that will move. Take this guide off, okay, put the new bolt through. The larger leg of the guide goes into that slot, there. Slip it on that way. Insert that. Make sure you get the guide slot into the tailgate. Insert that. Okay, the bolt is shouldered, so make sure that you pull your tailgate cable out onto the shoulder. Right off, firmly.
