Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Remove this plastic clip using a clip tool, or a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Pop it out, and pull it out of there. We can just bend it to the side. The connector for the ABS sensor is right here. Push in the lock, pull that off, and put that aside. Now take a small flat-bladed screwdriver, push it under this and push it in, and just pop that down. If the clip falls off, it's okay, just don't lose it.
This connector's going to slide right out of here, and then we'll put that aside and we'll work on getting the rest of the wire out and unbolting it from the knuckle. Pop the wire out of this connector here. Kind of push it apart with my fingers, work it down, and unhook it. Want to unclip the connector from here. It's got some push tabs and use some needle-nose pliers to push them in. What I was doing was pushing in on these tabs and then pulling it out. We'll do the same for this one here, going to squeeze in on these tabs and pull it out.
So now the only thing remaining is remove the 10-millimeter bolts that's holding it into the knuckle. I'm just going to pull the knuckle a little bit this way, spray some rust penetrant in here. Take our 10-millimeter socket and ratchet. [inaudible 00:02:45] the bolt. And just remove the sensor. Try to grab on to the plastic, just going to wiggle it back and forth, and it should slide right out.
Here's our old ABS wheel speed sensor, and our brand new one from 1AAuto.com. See it's the same style sensor, same mounting, and same style connector. The 1A one actually comes with a new clip here that goes in the body. We unlocked the one that was on the car and took it out just because it is, if you were to remove the old one or it's broken, this will come with a new one, but to remove the old one it's probably going to break because these are captured inside the body. It's hard to push them in to release them.
I was able to save the one that was in the car, same with this little wire route piece, it's plastic and the wire kind of clips in there. And then it clips into the body, so it'd be hard to get it out without breaking it, but I was able to pop the wire out of it. These of course didn't break, so they're still good, but the new one comes with new replacements as well.
So I'm going to take this off and this piece off, and reuse the ones that are on the car, and the rest of the stuff we'll reuse that's on the sensor. I'm just going to pop it out. Just kind of push the tabs apart with my finger. Get the wire out of there. Pop the tabs open, and open this one up. Get the flat-bladed screwdriver, just kind of pop it, and stick it like that.
Now we're ready to install this in the vehicle. Install the sensor back into place. Put it back into the same opening. Reinstall the bolts, just thread it down. 10-millimeter socket, just going to snug it tight.
Going to route it back the way it was, up. Push this one into the strut opening. Push this one up into the bracket here. You want these to have a little bit of give to it because it's going to turn with the strut. Pull it a little bit.
We're going to run it down here. I'm going to feed it in here first, right down, push it in there. Push it up into here. Push the connector back into place. You want these two bars and lock to be facing the ground. Pop it into place. Get this clip set up on here. Lock that right into place. Push the connector back on, a click when it locks into place. There's quite a bit of extra wire here, so I can actually pull this out, and that gets it like that. Then we can give ourselves some extra wire here. A little bit extra wire here. Reinstall this clip. The wheel speed sensor is replaced.
