installer said it didn't fit properly

order arrived in a timely fashion, and I took it to the local garage to have it installed. when I went to pick the truck up, I was told one of the tubes was not long enough and was at the wrong angle. the mechanic had to bend the tube in order to make it fit and also had to put a longer hose on it to make the connection, because it was shorter than the original. the entire dash had been reinstalled, thus I was not able to return the part for a replacement.

The core worked fine, but should have ordered the one w flexible inlet, outlet lines. Fitting it in was a challenge, as I pivoted the dash back from the passenger side to do the Jon. I did not remove it completely. My bad not theirs

The heater core fixed all my problems with windows fogging up when I turn on the heat. Works great but a terrible experience to install.

I ordered a new heater core for my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, and it was an exact match to my existing core. I wouldn't say it was easy to install, but I got it in and finished the installation. Overall, I'm happy with the quality of the product, and I'll do business with 1A Auto again.

Really like the construction and the way it was built. Seems like it's pretty tough and strong. Hopefully it'll keep my truck warm. I will order another one if I need one.
Nice all aluminum replacement heater core with solid inlet and outlet tubes

The heater core seems well made is one of the few that I could find that are made like an OEM heater core with solid inlet and outlet tubes. Other aftermarket heater cores are made with swivel jointed tubes to aid in installation, but may develop a leak at the swivel joint down the road. In order to install this heater core, the complete dash and HVAC box should be removed from the truck in order to properly install it. The only other difference is that the OE heater core was copper and the new heater core is all aluminum, which should be just fine.

New hardware and fittings are not included with this item. You may be able to reuse your original hardware if it is in good condition. Otherwise, you can source locally. Thank you.

You do NOT want a swivel tube heater core. They are easier to install, but are guaranteed to fail and leak at the swivel joint.

Does this heater core have swivel style fittings for the inlet and outlet heater hose tubes or are those tubes affixed to the core like the factory unit?

Just like the factory one, fixed and uses hose clamps.

Yes. It would be nearly impossible to install the heater core without the ability to swivel the inlet/outlet tubes during the installation. It was not an easy install due to the tight confines of working behind the dashboard and all the preliminary steps necessary to perform this operation. I'd almost rather get a root canal then do this job again....almost.

The heater core I purchased (TRQ HCA40124) does indeed have solid/fixed inlet and outlet heater hose tubes just like the factory heater core. It DOES NOT have swivel fittings in those lines. The only difference between the OE heater core and TRQ HCA40124 is that the TRQ HCA40124 is all-aluminum (not copper like OE). In order to properly install this heater core without swivel inlet/outlet tubes, the complete dash should be removed from the truck, followed by removing the HVAC box. This will allow for a relatively easy installation of the heater core with solid/fixed inlet/outlet tubes.
